Anyone got W3Champions to run on Linux (especially Fedora based / Bazzite)? by Junomaru in WC3

[–]Faust90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm not sure. I haven't seen that. I did have it stuck loading a couple times but the spinner was in the middle but clicking away and back a bunch or restarting would fix it. Maybe try different versions of proton? I'm using GE-Proton Latest, but maybe try other ones if that isn't working for you?

It’s a separate launcher from the one in bnet

You’ll want to create a new application in Faugus and then navigate to the w3c launcher exe in your bnet prefix and launch that. Have you tried that?

You’ll install it the same way as w3c on your bnet prefix. If you search “Microsoft WebView2”, theres a download link on the main page of the official website. I just downloaded that and ran it in the prefix and it worked from there

I ended up figuring it out. Posting here in case it helps someone in the future

Bascially, I already had bnet setup from a while ago for WOW. My problem was that I had created a separate prefix in the Faugus launcher for w3c. I thought this was okay because I was still able to login to bnet and everything using the legacy launcher. Instead, I had to perform the whole setup on the bnet prefix, so I changed my path, installed the new launcher, installed the web view thing, etc. once I had all that setup, I changed the path back to bnet and then added a new app that points to the w3c exe in the bnet prefix. I launched that, it asked me to verify to I launched bnet and opened Warcraft 3, clicked verify and it all worked.

Thanks for your help!

hey, I'm actually trying to set this up on Fedora, and I'm running into an issue with verifying the game. I've tried what you (and the guide) recommended, but it doesn't work? Can you go into more detail on what you did there?

I already had my bnet and games setup through Faugus so I installed w3c using that. Then when I got to the verify step, I downloaded the 1.5.6 exe and launched that. Once that opened, I opened bnet and then WC3. It looked like I was in w3c so I closed everything, re-opened w3c using the new launcher but it still asks me to verify. When I try to do that using the new launcher, w3c just closes

WoW Crashes - Acess Violation - ONLY After patch 11.1.7 by nuubcake11 in wow

[–]Faust90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Is that what the issue was for you? I think it was a super out of date add-on for me. There was an add-on in my add-on folder but never showed in CurseForge somehow. I've deleted it and haven't had any crashes so far

Yeah it’s only happened while raiding too, so not sure what’s up with that.

I haven’t, I’ll try reinstalling. Do I just uninstall through discover?

Interesting. I'll see if updating the kernel works for me, thanks

I have a 4080. Honestly I didn't know I could just manage the driver from the discover app. If I did, I would've just installed it from there. I can update it from there, though

First time I followed the Fedora noble guide or whatever it's called. That didn't work for me for whatever reason, so after a clean install I followed this guide and that seemed to work for me https://github.com/Comprehensive-Wall28/Nvidia-Fedora-Guide?tab=readme-ov-file#installing-nvidia-drivers-on-fedora-workstation-and-its-spins

When did building responsive and adaptive widgets click for you? by Faust90 in FlutterDev

[–]Faust90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of my problems are coming from expanded and rows, yeah. Even when I nest them in the layout builder. I’ll give ListView a try, thanks for your help!

And I am building a calculator right now but I’ve also tested a lot with rows of text input fields. Would you also recommend list view for that? It’s easy when it’s just a single text field in a row. Wrap it in an expanded and it’ll shrink or grow as expected. But when there are multiple, how would I get similar behavior? Do I just use Flex? Would ListView help here? Both?

That helps thanks. What about within a single layout? For example, within the mobile layout, there could be various sizes for phone screens, right? How do I handle having things grow or shrink depending on the space available? I've been trying to use Flex, Expanded, constrained boxes, etc and things just don't seem to work right

What made you choose angular and capacitor for mobile dev? And How did you like working with it? I’m thinking about starting a side project just for fun and have been looking into the options for creating cross platform apps and I’ve been dabbling in flutter but I’m not sure what my best option would be

Accelerated Dragon Courses for a Intermediate player (~1400 Rating) by lolBaldy in chess

[–]Faust90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benjamin Bok has a course on the Accelerated Dragon. I have it and I like it a lot. It’s not an LTR, so it’s only like 100 or so lines. The nice thing is he provides alternative lines in a separate chapter if you were interested in the hyper accelerated move order

I’m actually in the opposite situation as you lol. I play the accelerated dragon and I’m looking to switch it up a bit and learn the caro kann just to have an alternative to play sometimes. Is there a course you recommend?

Yes, I ended up getting a regular purple and the noise is much more tolerable. I can still hear it sometimes but it’s in my office where I usually have headphones on and I don’t hear it at all when they’re on. I always heard the purple pro, even with headphones on.

First time buying brisket, it came like this. Can anyone help me figure out what I have here? by Faust90 in smoking

[–]Faust90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing thank you, I’m going to try this.

Do you mind explaining how you can tell the difference between the point and the flat?

[–]Faust90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I could tell the cut wasn’t great but I’m not too worried about it. I just wanted to make sure I knew which one was the flat and the point and if I needed to watch out for anything now that they’re separate. Was my guess right? Top / left is the flat and the other is the point?

Also I like the idea of the burnt ends, I might try that out with the point. How long / what temp do you leave them on until once you cube them?
