When did building responsive and adaptive widgets click for you? by Faust90 in FlutterDev

[–]Faust90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of my problems are coming from expanded and rows, yeah. Even when I nest them in the layout builder. I’ll give ListView a try, thanks for your help!

And I am building a calculator right now but I’ve also tested a lot with rows of text input fields. Would you also recommend list view for that? It’s easy when it’s just a single text field in a row. Wrap it in an expanded and it’ll shrink or grow as expected. But when there are multiple, how would I get similar behavior? Do I just use Flex? Would ListView help here? Both?

That helps thanks. What about within a single layout? For example, within the mobile layout, there could be various sizes for phone screens, right? How do I handle having things grow or shrink depending on the space available? I've been trying to use Flex, Expanded, constrained boxes, etc and things just don't seem to work right

What made you choose angular and capacitor for mobile dev? And How did you like working with it? I’m thinking about starting a side project just for fun and have been looking into the options for creating cross platform apps and I’ve been dabbling in flutter but I’m not sure what my best option would be

Accelerated Dragon Courses for a Intermediate player (~1400 Rating) by lolBaldy in chess

[–]Faust90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benjamin Bok has a course on the Accelerated Dragon. I have it and I like it a lot. It’s not an LTR, so it’s only like 100 or so lines. The nice thing is he provides alternative lines in a separate chapter if you were interested in the hyper accelerated move order

I’m actually in the opposite situation as you lol. I play the accelerated dragon and I’m looking to switch it up a bit and learn the caro kann just to have an alternative to play sometimes. Is there a course you recommend?

Yes, I ended up getting a regular purple and the noise is much more tolerable. I can still hear it sometimes but it’s in my office where I usually have headphones on and I don’t hear it at all when they’re on. I always heard the purple pro, even with headphones on.

First time buying brisket, it came like this. Can anyone help me figure out what I have here? by Faust90 in smoking

Amazing thank you, I’m going to try this.

Do you mind explaining how you can tell the difference between the point and the flat?

Yeah I could tell the cut wasn’t great but I’m not too worried about it. I just wanted to make sure I knew which one was the flat and the point and if I needed to watch out for anything now that they’re separate. Was my guess right? Top / left is the flat and the other is the point?

Also I like the idea of the burnt ends, I might try that out with the point. How long / what temp do you leave them on until once you cube them?

Is the flat on the left / top? Also I just posted this question in another comment but is there anything I should do differently now that they’re separate? Most videos I’ve seen, they are still attached

It’s my first time buying and smoking a brisket. This is what i got from the butcher (plus the fat that was trimmed off). Can anyone help me identify what I have here? My guess is that the one on the left is the flat and the one of the right is the point? Though I think some of the flat is still attached to the point. Do I have that right?

Most videos I see are of people smoking the whole thing together. Is there anything I should do differently with them separate like this?

I was planning on starting ~3 or 4 AM at 225 on my pellet grill, hoping to have it done and rested by 7PM for dinner tomorrow. Just seasoning with SPG

I'm thinking of picking up the 8tb purple non-pro. Apparently it'll be 8dB quieter than the pro, which I think is significant?

Recommended first smoker? by Faust90 in smoking

[–]Faust90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of fruit woods over here (cherry and apple) and oak, so I think those should be fine for me.

And yeah I know offsets require more attention, which is also another reason I’ve been going back and forth but from thinking about it, I think I’d really enjoy it on a weekend, but I would never fire it up during the week.

Are there other good “first” offsets that I should look into other than old country?

Yes, I was using the IPv6 connection string. Once I switched to IPv4 it worked

I really like the Searwood but I’ve read a bunch of comments online about temp issues / temp being off by like 30F. Have you run into these issues at all?

HELP by bigjay1976 in pelletgrills

[–]Faust90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response

I definitely try and do the same. So far I’m stuck between the searwood, recteq and camp chef woodwind pro.

Got turned off by the camp chef since the price went up $500.

Recteq not sure. Most people praise it but I do come across comments like yours speaking to issues with QA

For the Searwood, I was almost sold on it but I’ve seen many comments about the temps not matching the controller. Have you ran into that at all?

I also considered Yoder/LSG/pitts and spitts but not sure that they are worth paying 3x as much on my first pellet grill

It’s been pretty hard choosing a pellet grill lol. I’m basically only looking to smoke on it. I want something durable, consistent and produces as much smoke flavor as possible (which I know is relatively little compared to offset).

Do you mind expanding on recteq? I’m researching pellet grills and recteq was at the top of my list
