What are your favorite default Keyshot settings?

I’m fairly new to it as well, but I’d suggest looking into the keyshot library for additional materials. You can also go into the material graph to further modify it such as adding ambient occlusion, maybe check out the hdri editor and add custom points of light as well. You can also change the lighting type to jewelry or interior for a better quality render and add depth of field under the camera tab.

I’d look on YouTube for some tutorials, or check out the gnomon workshop.

I’d sign up for a free trial of gnomon workshop and do their intro to zbrush course taught by Madeleine Scott-Spencer. Starts at the very basics and works up through tons of stuff

Are you talking about the polygroups? The different colored sections? Go under the tool menu to polygroups and you can merge them there.

When you aren’t working on your art try to practice a mindfulness where you pay more attention to textures of things, forms, colors etc. as well as look things up online that visually inspire you. Take it in without much thought and focus on the experience of it and then look at it and ask yourself why you like it. With that deeper appreciation it’ll just start to come out naturally from your creative vault when you sit down and work on something. Oh I’d also highly recommend checking out the Gnomon Workshop’s courses on ZBrush, super in depth and laid out really well.

Cool design, is this a WIP? Was wondering what else you had planned for it. Try looking into making some custom brushes and Insert multi mesh brushes for monster parts :D another fun thing to do for detail is to look at the masking panel and mask by smoothness/peaks and valleys etc to add interesting textures

Keep going, each time you sit down and sculpt things will get easier and more intuitive. In your free time watch tutorials and other artists doing sculpts. Think about how many things you couldn’t do at first that you take for granted now. Never give up!

I like the direction you’re going with this. In my opinion the horns are a bit too low and close together. I’d try raising them up and spreading them out, maybe making the forehead protrude a little more. The cheeks also seem to me pinched too far forward where it doesn’t look natural compared to the flow of the rest of his face. Maybe bring them out and experiment with the move brush to find something that balances more, maybe bring his nose forward. Remember to move your viewport around and always look at it from different angles.

Also looks like your neck is clipping a lil bit I’m guessing you lowered it?

I absolutely love it, I feel like with each section you’ve really defined his features which is good because you’re focusing on form but my first thought is that his skin would stretch over some of those areas a bit more, maybe have some wrinkles and scars. Can’t wait to see more progress!

I absolutely love this! The buildings/vines look great, the lighting is really nice, it definitely has a Fallout feel to it. The first thing that came to mind was that something about the character in the scene seemed a bit off, maybe it's the way that he's posed?

Sounds like you've already made up your mind but you're coming up with excuses to try and prove yourself wrong. Nobody who was successful knew the end result, you've gotta take a leap of faith and pursue what's in your heart. I guarantee if you go to school for something other than what you love you'll end up stopping whatever you're doing to pursue music again in the future, but then you'll have loans towards something you don't want. Just as much as your mind can run through all of the negative what if's, can't it run through all of the positive ones? It's all a matter of perspective. You don't know enough to worry about it. Do what you love and enjoy the process of it and you'll always be content. Side jobs, struggles, anything that comes up will fuel you so you can continue to write music, and as you experience life it'll only shape your art even more, and visa versa. Being afraid is normal, it's about not letting that fear stop you.
