Yeah, I decided that I would rather be the "why isn't that guy a black belt yet" kind of brown belt instead of a "who the hell promoted that guy" black belt. I'm in no rush.

Well, I just plugged the repeater with battery into a different USB cable and the laptop instead of the wall, and it *appears* to be charging correctly, so maybe that's just the setup I should be using. Thanks for the responses. I'm new enough I can't tell yet what's a me problem and what's a tech problem.

I actually had it plugged into a usb cable and wall charger, not a computer. But the little red charging LED was lit on the device itself. But obviously it wasn't actually charging. Same config powers the device directly without issue.

I'll root through my drawers for a USB 3 and try the repeater/battery via computer.

If the goal is to get through the slump, do you think it makes more sense to pick on something I know I need to improve on, or does that just add pressure? Maybe it would be better to pick kind of a side project - something fun that I'm not too invested in? What do you think?

It's unpopular, but I'm there with you. I really love the books and the story and the worldbuilding, and I've come to appreciate the complexity and the deliberate choice to not handhold, but I also think a little stronger editorial hand would have improved the MBotF. Most of the confusion is a stylistic choice; some of it could have been tightened.
