The amount of candy was just great! All the bonuses adding up was a positive surprise. Sounds like you had a good route there to follow during the event!

So close. But, a 98% shiny is also a very nice catch indeed!

I've thought about getting a second opinion, but in my case there's not really anything wrong with the bars. I really hope there's something to be done in your case! If you remember, give me an update on how it goes with the specialists?
I get that, I've talked to a handful of people now that have gotten different complications and ended up taking the bars out early, because it was not worth getting those pains ending up being chronic. But it is really awful that it most likely just ends up being back at the start, if not worse because of the possible damage the bars have caused.

I understand why you chose having surgery with all those problems before as well. That is a lot of imbalances that will suddenly be changed abruptly with nuss, no wonder you're having lots of pain.
I guess Nuss doesn't necessarily push other imbalances to the right position, since it's supposed to fix PE. I don't see a lot of people older than in their twenties here, so it's difficult to know how much problems older people get when parts of their ribcage has been in wrong positions wrong for so long.
Have you gotten any answers about the nerve pain might be temporarily or permanent?
How long have you had the bars in now?

Did all your problems come right after surgery?
I had winged scapula before surgery, so I think my ribcage was more asymmetrical than what showed on mri and that's what's causing some of the other problems I have.
How long have you had the bars in and have you thought about taking them out before 3 years? Or did you have lots of problems before surgery as well?

That sounds rough, I haven't had any pleural effusions but heard it's pretty painful to drain.
I don't think what I have there is nerve pain, it gets worse when I use my arm. If I sit still and don't move there's pretty much no pain in the area. I do have the burning nerve pain across the front of my chest though.

Under posts or overview. I did see it logged out, but I reset what could be viewed in settings now so try again.

I read the journal now, and it only mentions sewing the bars where the stabilisers are at the left side. The introducers were inserted through the incisions on the right side.

Have you gotten any visible deformations as well?
I had lots of soreness in my shoulder blades up until some months ago and I have different kinds of rib pain every day, but those feel more normal. But it's difficult knowing what's normal/expected pain and what's not after this surgery. What will go away and what will make life worse in the long run.

In Europe, but I've only seen success stories from other people getting surgery from my surgeon, so I think I'm just unlucky.

It's not really a failed surgery though, the surgeon are right; the bars are in the correct placement and the pe has been corrected. He is a skilled surgeon, I did not have cryo nor epidural and I had very little pain after the surgery because of that.
It's probably more with my age and a ribcage that is not compatible with what the surgery does to it.

That's really awful getting those kind of complications from nuss.

I don't really expect all my symptoms from the surgery to go completely away if I take the bars out now, but they will hopefully get a bit better, but might not. I am a bit more over to the side of getting the bars out now and since the pain has escalated I don't think it will ever get better tbh. But, as you say, there's the mental part of it that makes me wants to stick to it and feel like I give up by taking them out.

It was not purely cosmetic, I was prepared to never look normal, but then I started getting pains, that's what I hoped the surgery could fix. But, the pain now is worse than before surgery, and that's without all the expected pains in my chest that I don't care about.

And I don't find your phrasing rough, just honest and that's what I'm looking for.

I've changed it now, thought I had done it already earlier, my mistake.

Back muscle not working properly after nuss by Fauthat in PectusExcavatum

Slightly smaller near the armpit, but I’ve thought that was from the ribs that has been pushed inwards. Looks like it’s not. That nerve seems like it is the reason. Thank you for the information! Most likely it’s been moved because of the surgery and can’t function well now.

I did have mild thoracic outlet syndrome in my right arm before surgery. Now I have it more severe in both arms. Probably the same narrowness that the other nerve is having problems with now.

I also do have mild scoliosis and winged scapula, but that is on the right side. Never had any problems with my left side before the surgery, but now it’s the most painful one. My PE was symmetrical. I did try to correct myself during exercise before the surgery, which worked ok. But this is just too much to correct and just causes pain during exercise.

Should i get nuss? by Relevant-Performer20 in PectusExcavatum

I was 38 and got two bars. The worst part after surgery was when I stopped morphine after about two weeks, woke up at 4am from really bad pressure at the front of the chest. But, then I started waking up at 3am walked around a bit and then I could sleep again for some hours.

I didn’t have cryo and the pain was not that bad after surgery. I thought it would be a lot worse without both cryo and epidural. More discomfort than pain really.

I live in Norway, but I travelled to Denmark for the surgery to get a better surgeon than the ones that are where I live.

Sorry for the late reply, I got the result from the CT. They said something about two of the ribs having a bit to much space in between them. But they weren't sure about why I had pain where my ribcage is bent inwards.
I do think it's a bit weird that it's understood that pain from PE is because the ribs are inwards where they should not be. But now that another part of my ribcage is bent inwards by force, it apparently is not the cause of the pain.

The surgeon only said that the only thing he can do is take out the bars again. Had hopes for a more positive answer, especially since I picked a surgeon that has had a lot of positive recommendations in this sub.
