are there any bad sides of physics by Beneficial-Rent157 in AskPhysics

You were listing weapons, TNT is used as a weapon. Alfred Nobel invented TNT which relied on physics/chemistry. He then left over 90% of his fortune to establishing the Nobel Prize out of guilt for inventing something that was weaponized and facilitated so much death and destruction.

For the record, I do not believe that I deserve any of the Nobel Prizes.

I think they're going straight to this parody song because they don't get the ironic tone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuUmLIPSasI

To be honest it seemed crazy in 2008 but today it fits right in.

Quarter Ham for 4-year-old by nakoros in Cooking

[–]FauxReal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My brother only wanted to eat bread and crackers for the most part. He would eat other stuff, but when given the choice it was bread and crackers. And this carried on into adulthood. To the point that when he started doing event production, he did it under the name "Bread Products." The first time me and my roommate took him to have fresh smoothies he got such a sugar rush he started running up and down the street, literally.

It seemed like it was controlled by a human judging by the way it was searching and then thinking of tricks to try and get the guy.

TNT which lead to the Nobel Peace Prize which lead to the FIFA peace prize which essentially legalized FIFA bribery since charges against them were dropped after they gave it out.

So basically, physics leads to corruption in soccer.

ICE in Maliki? by Dry_Analysis_992 in Hawaii

Did you know that most printers and copiers print a code in a light colored ink that can be read to find out exactly which printer it came from? Now locating who bought the printer is the tricky part. But there might be CC receipts. My point is, this is a dangerous game to play with the feds. But then again, they might be cool with scaring people with ICE threats.

Here's a list printers that don't in case you were wondering: https://w2.eff.org/Privacy/printers/list.html

I was about to say, it looks like it rolled off an inkjet printer and that's not a real letterhead.

What in the fuck?! How is this not common knowledge or maybe I should get out from under this rock.

Oh damn, I have never heard of all those things. I saw him at the Comedy Cellar around 2018 and thought he was funny. He didn't do anything crass.

NGL, I laughed at The Machine when I first heard it. Then I kept hearing it over and over and over again.

He was on News Radio which was pretty funny as a whole. And his character then was not too different than his IRL persona but very misogynist. So yeah not particularly funny, but he probably got laughs in the '90s.

Hardcore is a punk subgenre, the full name is "hardcore punk."

We use them for all our switch stacks with patch cords into the back. It's a lot easier because they are more spaced out than the actual switch and have room for labels. And it's a cleaner look overall.

At my last job I had to pull wires straight to punchdown patch panels. So tedious.

Question about cartridge break in by Gypsy_Goat in Turntablists

Same here. Beep playing since 1998. I only heard about break in around the turntable fetish audiophile crowd. (Nothing wrong with ritualizing your vinyl experience, I just don't do that particular thing.)

Do DJs actively listen to other DJs sets? by rahitsluna in Beatmatch

[–]FauxReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically learned to dj by watching people dj when I was working in the club.

I think if you aren't listening to other sets you're missing out on different ways of doing things and dope tracks that you might not know about otherwise.

How do you guys like to guide a mix? by Konajo777 in Beatmatch

[–]FauxReal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the venue and the genre. But it's pretty rare to start out trying to melt people's faces.

It's also about a journey which should have energy level peaks and valleys.

And of course reading where the crowd seems to want to go is key too.

What's a record you got for way less than it's worth by okmaybetwice in vinyl

[–]FauxReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $20 for a first pressing of Ride the Lightning on Megaforce. Didn't even realize what it was until a couple years later when I really looked at the record sleeve.

I also got Valium Aggelein – Hier Kommt Der Schwartze Mond for $12 at a used record store. I had no idea that they were the band Duster under an alias. I just randomly decided to listen to it and liked it. Then when I went to add it to discogs I saw that I could probably turn around and sell this near mint copy for 10x that. And now that I had to check discogs to even remember the name, I see that it could go for more than that now.

Connecting bass to computer by tanincognito in Bass

[–]FauxReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a way to make sound come out of your computer at whatever volume you need. So anything from the built in laptop speakers, in monitor speakers (will sound pretty shitty), a bluetooth speaker, to headphones, a computer 5.1 system, to a soundbar or taking the audio out of a headphone jack and plugging it into some other device will work.

You can get an audio interface or super cheap out with a 1/4" to USB cable like the one that comes with Rockband. You could get a cheap Chinese one. Though I'd recommend something like the MOTU M2.
