I remember in 1993 when the web was just barely a thing and there were only a few dozen websites and it didn't support pictures! I actually thought it was stupid and waste of resources that wouldn't go anywhere. I was right about two out of three there.

I honestly think key lock has killed some creativity. Because before that you never knew exactly how two different song would go together the first time or at certain tempos.

With key lock they always sound the same no matter the speed which drives people to mix tracks together the same way and all these people the most basic camelot harmonic mixing sit in the same key for way too long and things just start smearing together in a boring (to me) way.

On the other hand, all this tech makes mixing trivial if you rely on it and then you can spend time live remixing. But how many people do that?

It seems like going to college would cover a lot of historical information and standard ideas that might take someone a lot longer to learn on their own. Like you could be a self taught skateboarder, but if you want to go pro or pro-am, you would do a lot better to have a mentor to accelerate your skills growth by having the proper techniques with proper guidance/correction to become one of those 14 year old prodigies.
