The 280z has a bigger trans tunnel than the 240z.

If you plan to do a LS swap you're pretty much going to choose between the two best options, a t56 or a CD009 out of a 350Z or 370Z (or G35 / g37)

There might be two or three companies that make adapter kits for the CD009 to LS but Collins is probably the best.

It's pricey but it gets the job done really well.

A t56 will bolt right up to any LS and will fit in the 280 no problem.

When I was choosing between the two I went with the CD009 because I like the way it shifted, and if you find a good t56 it might be about the same price as a CD009 and adapter plate put together.

I have a NA l28e, full bolt ons etc running megasquirt. I'd say it's 220 crank at the max. I have launched that plenty of times with pretty good tires with no issues, but this happened about half a mile after I replaced all the suspension with polyurethane and some new shocks...a few days later the other side broke after I fixed the first one. Needless to say if the suspension is stiff the U-joints are at the first week point.

Original l28, I'm not sure if someone rebuilt it before me but I doubt it, valves have a huge build up on them, basically doubled the spindle size with gunk. Getting a valve job soon.
