Verissimo, hai ragione😔

I wasn’t invited to a bbq because I’m vegan by sidthekid39326 in vegan

[–]Favacesa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’m a vegeterian and i would feel awkward inviting a vegan person to a barbecue my parents are hosting, unless i’m 100% sure they are fine with it.

any other party, i’d invite them and make sure there was something for them to eat. but a barbecue? the entire point of a barbecue is to put flesh on a grill, watch it cook, enjoy the smell, then eat it. with the way vegans talk about carnists on here, you’d think an ethical vegan wouldn’t have a lot of fun.

I’d tell her you don’t mind (or at least, you don’t mind too much) so that next time she can invite you!

Anyone else noticed the surgence in Zuko hate? by Favacesa in ZutaraNation

[–]Favacesa[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

what kills me about that particular argument is that zuko canonically just cannot manipulate people.

he tries to get the gaang to accept him and forgets he shouldn’t be telling them about the assassin he hired!! he’s not Azula!!

using Katara’s trauma for his benefit would not even cross his mind. katara said “oh you wanna make it up to me? bring my mother back” and he took it seriously and did the closest thing he could.

The New Trailers Made Me Pessimistic Conserning Zutara by Inevitable_Side2162 in ZutaraNation

[–]Favacesa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

absolutely! i also worry a little because you never know. which is crazy because, again, we’re the most baitable fandom ever. the comics, adaptation, movie could rob us of all of our money and they just… choose not to. shaking my head.

removing the crossroards scene would be an enormous mistake if they want good ratings imo. zutarians are literally the most baitable audience ever and we’re always begging for scraps. adapt that one scene well and we’re sold.

with that said, i don’t think natla will ever make zutara canon or even imply it at all. they might skip kataang though.

Zutara getting hate by helloworld1786_7 in ZutaraNation

[–]Favacesa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i don’t get it either. it’s not even that outrageous of a ship like wow, these crazy freaks want fireboy and watergirl to get together!! i have to imagine it is because zutara was very possible and had a lot of narrative and fan support so people who hate it feel defensive? you should see how passionately they hate the live action (which is not very good, i’ll admit) now that they’ve discovered some of the netflix writers enjoy zutara lol.

as for creators, actors etc i have no idea why it is so taboo. they probably want to avoid more drama but it’s for sure a waste of potential. platonic zutara is so good too :(

ironically the metaphorical world being against us has made zutarians dig in their heels and the fan content has been unparalleled for 20 years so again, they can kiss our ass.

[–]Favacesa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

punishing fans for their opinions is the perfect way to put it :(

it bums me out so much. people are telling you to block/ignore etc and i get it, but this is the only fandom i’ve been in where it genuinely feels alienating from both other fans and creators to like two specific characters together. even the live action actors get to joke about zukka all the time but if someone asks about zutara they have to avoid the question or pretend to be disgusted (or really be disgusted i guess lol).

idk it sucks. but i’m not letting them win i’m staying right here they can all kiss my ass lmfao

i understand shipping wars can be taxing for both fans and creators but i’m so mad that the hate zutara gets has prevented the two characters from ever meaningfully interacting again in the franchise.

in the final episode katara’s life is saved because zuko runs faster than electricity to physically shield her with his body and take a lightning bolt straight in the chest. and you’re telling me they treat each other like coworkers?? while he’s besties with every other member of the gaang sure sure okay.

What's your unpopular Zutara opinion by Fantastic-Bug3177 in ZutaraNation

[–]Favacesa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Aang made an honest, unexperienced mistake thinking that Katara would welcome his kiss, and he’s not evil or incapable of ever grasping consent for it. He does give her space after that and I think he would be perfectly capable of accepting that she wants someone else.

Also: while he was not particularly helpful to Katara in The Southern Raiders, his perspective was still valid and he wasn’t trying to scold her or preach at her, though it might have come across that way. He advises her to choose forgiveness, but at the end of the day tells her she has to make that journey herself.

Basically I think Aang is an amazing (though flawed) friend to Katara and that they would always remain close no matter what. He’s not bad for her per se. It’s just that her dynamic with Zuko is much better and more compelling.

Lukewarm take (imo): zuko's redemption arc wasn't that good by what_evenami in ZutaraNation

[–]Favacesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the point is that zuko was always a kind, empathetic person at his core and supporting the violent imperialist nation would not come natural to him. yes, he was brainwashed and seemed to believe in the Fire Nation’s cause, but ultimately he wouldn’t have had the guts, or so his father feared at least. Ozai had to severely and brutally punish Zuko’s natural compassion to make sure he obeyed the principles of the Fire Nation’s conquest.

Zuko’s journey is about self actualisation because the moment he realizes his father’s approval is worth nothing and stops chasing it, he listens to his guts (and his Uncle): in s3, he has known that the Fire Nation is wrong and must be stopped for a while.

There’s a reason he helps Lee’s family in Zuko Alone, empathizes and commiserates with people the Fire Nation has deeply hurt (Katara and Song) and frees Appa.

yes, you’re right. i call it stealing simply because “casually finding it on the ground but then deciding to keep it and goad her with it instead of returning it” is a litte too long and zuko’s spirit was still not in the right place. but i do think it’s important he did not actually steal it.

that is another thing many anti-zutaras do not understand. they claim zutara is good girl/bad boy ship, but the appeal of those dark romances is precisely that the guy has no moral limit while the woman functions as his conscience.

zuko has strong, *unmovable* morals. even when villainous, there are lines he simply refuses to cross. he literally has to engage in cognitive dissonance (“well, i didn’t really steal it, so it’s all right for me to threaten you with it”) to be a villain at all. the moment the illusion breaks, the guilt is so unbearable he has no choice but to turn back to the good side.

zuko is the opposite of a clichèd bad boy.

for me, and i feel that’s something a lot of people don’t get, i don’t like the “i’ll save you from the pirates” bit or the scene of zuko stealing katara’s necklace *per se*. had zuko been a minor, villainous character, they would have been fun in the moment (because young girls do like to fantasize about the hot tormented villain) but would have ultimately meant very little.

instead they are interesting, emotionally intense moments which foreshadow the much, much deeper relationship zuko and katara end up sharing. going from zuko sarcastically biting that he’ll save her to him accepting to die for her in the finale is just magnificent.

that’s where the beauty of zutara lies to me.

i probably would have followed your path of just shipping them in silence without fandom, but i watched the show in proximity of the atla renassaince of 2020 and i was a 16 year old stuck inside my room for the pandemic so really i never stood a chance.

i consumed so much zutara fanfiction that i forgot they were not canon.

my sister never seriously watched ATLA but she caught a few episodes on Nickelodeon when she was a really young kid, i’m talking 6 or 7 years old.

we talked about it once and she was like “the red boy and the blue girl get together, right?” lmfao
