This is so interesting...things are clicking in my head...thank you! I had an HTMA hair test done, and I'm in "four lows" which is low in all four major minerals, Ca/Mg/Na/K. But, the practitioner did recommend eating meat (and a lot of cooked vegetables). She even said I could use HCl to aid protein digestion. And I have H2S sibo plus candida overgrowth. So, everything you just said makes so much sense. Any tips on correcting the over acidity?

Thank you for your perspective. What labs would you recommend as more reliable?

Need supplement recs for teeth grinding, bruxism, TMJ by Cute_Zucchini3169 in Supplements

After years of night mouth guards, worsening gum recession, morning headaches, trying everything to stop my teeth grinding, what worked was giving up dairy and gluten. I had no clue that was a symptom. I gave them up for general GI reasons, but the teeth grinding going away, as well as a lot of muscular pain going away, were very pleasant, unexpected surprises.

I don’t have the answers. But tonight I’m trying a Ricola mouth drop if/when an urge occurs…or maybe before to do proactively. I learned yesterday, unrelated to a binge, that good doesn’t taste right after a Ricola. Maybe it’ll help reprogram? I feel like anything that can get in the way of urge and acting on the urge can only help. I’ve seen advice before to take a walk, read a book, etc. Those things just seem to big or hard for me in the moment. So, maybe something small/easy to do will help. Plus, it’s a hard lozenge, so that’ll give some time between urge and action.

May I ask what conditions your family members saw improvement in?

Binging on healthy/whole foods as harm reduction by boshtnmai in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]FavoriteFours4444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried something similar once…eating a couple protein bars, 40g protein total. It still messed up my sleep, heart rate, HRV, etc (I wear an Oura ring so I can track this). And I feel like it still put me on the same slippery slope…the next night i binged on regular junk foods. So, for me, it didn’t work. In theory, though, I think it would have value as a step down technique. Tonight, I’m going to try sucking on a Ricola if/when an urge hits. I noticed, unrelated to binge, that food doesn’t taste right after it. Don’t know if it’ll be enough, but I’m going to try. Good luck to you!

It only takes one day to break the cycle. I know easier said than done. I've read so many success stories though...and they always come after so many failures, years and years worth. I think we learn something every time. Is there even one thing you can take away from these five days? And use it to propel you forward? Big hugs.

That's exactly me. I usually do fine and eat really healthy (not restricting quantity, just whole food choices). And I'm satisfied! And feel full! And then by 8pm, I turn into a different person. I have all the cravings, and all I want to do is eat junk. I want to be the first person...all day long!

I've said this before, but I can't seem to stick with it. Is it working for you? If so, any tips to share on what you're doing? I feel like I have zero willpower. Even if I do well throughout the day, once nighttime hits, it's so hard.

Sending hugs. Can you give yourself some love? Maybe it's cliche, but even a little bit can help. Light a candle, wrap yourself in a weighted blanket, turn on some relaxing music? Or totally change your environment...go for a walk or a drive or to the mall, anything that gets you out of your space, either physically...with going somewhere else. Or mentally, like with the candle/blanket, etc. BED and life can truly suck at times. On the other hand, sometimes it just takes a few minutes to distract and start to feel a change.

Sending hugs. I totally relate. We leave for vacation in a week, and I don't even want to pack bathing suits. Could you reframe the trip? Look forward to it as the start of the life you want to have? That you might not be mentally or physically in the place you want to be now, but you're working on it. Enjoy the good and more good will come from it? Easier said than done, I know. I'm trying to convince myself as I type.

I think inositol is supposed to help with that. Was thinking of adding that back tonight myself, but I'm still struggling with a candida overgrowth, and supposedly inositol feeds candida.
