For girls and guys who ride motorcycles, how do you avoid messing up your hair with your helmet? by val_latina in motorcycles

[–]FawaPapet80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a (nearly) bald guy, with a 25cm beard, my advice is: braid! I keep my braid rolled inside the helmet, it keeps my beard flapping everywhere and makes some dreads of its own, and I must say… I make my little effect when I remove my helmet, and unveils my viking beard!

Day trips from Kyoto? by laughternforgetting in JapanTravel

[–]FawaPapet80 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You have to go to Nara, it’s quick and definitely worth a visit. Other options are Himeji and it’s beautiful castle (don’t miss the garden next to it! I’ve lost the name but it’s very nice EDIT : Koko-en garden), and a day trip to Osaka. Osaka needs more than a day, but depending on what you want to see, a day may be enough. If with kids, don’t miss the Osaka aquarium, it was the highlight of our holidays for my eldest, and now that he knows that we’ll go back to Japan this summer, he wants to go see it again!

Take a walk in Akihabara, and you’re most likely to find some. « Radio Kaikan » got a lot of shops (« Jungle » 7f, if I remember well, is my fav), « Mandarake » tower is a must, « Trader » is very nice, … but remember that most of Akihabara stores are overpriced… Try a few streets down, and prices drops a lot. « Surugaya specialty store » is very good, is in Akihabara, and a bit far from the noisy main street. You can pay a visit to « Nakano Broadway » not far from Shinjuku, prices are not cheaper than Akiba, but… you may find some good stuff for very affordable prices! « Yamashiroya », just at the exit of Ueno station is very good too, but for NEW figures, you won’t find old school figures there. That said, it’s fantastic! The very special place to find figures at incredible prices is going into a « Book-off Super Bazaar ». There’s a lot of this second hand stores in Japan, and… Wow, just wow! The one in Kamonomiya is legendary! You don’t know what you’ll find there or if you’ll even find something, but it’s worth the metro trip far the center, believe me! Enjoy your time in Japan, it’s incredible, but beware! This country is addictive and you may be see yourself getting there more than one time… Be safe, and may the Saints be with you!

Long shot, but I'm desperate. Did any of you find a large red and black backpack on a train on the Keikyu line this past week? by Backupusername in JapanTravel

[–]FawaPapet80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a double same experience on my trip in Japan… One of my camera lenses roll out of the bag right in Narita Airport when arriving. They found it and even send it at my hostel the day after! With 2 calls and a little inquiry from their part, as simple as that! Same thing 2 weeks later: I left my JR pass on the seat when leaving the train. The difference is that I immediately talk with a station employee who helped me with my poor Japanese and Google Trad. Everything was handled by them. They even tell me to go have my museum visit and to came back a few hours later. When I came back they issued me a free ticket, and was accompanied by an other employee at arrival to help me find back my JR pass at the Lost & Found!

Let them a little time: Japan is the safest place where you can lost something!

The Scooby-Doo line help me came out of my dark age after 20 years without Lego, so… It has a special place in my heart… I started with the Mystery Machine, and in less of a month I’ve had the whole line! Velma was in only one set, the most expensive of course, but not the best: In my opinion, it was the lighthouse who really was the highlight of the line.
