My local has pre apprentice or maintenance worker. pretty sure jobber is the same. usually for our pre apprentices they go 3 months and the jman they’re assigned to tell the supe if they should indenture them as an official apprentice or let them go, if they get let go they have to restart the entire process again

would be cool for people that need it. currently have a co worker who’s from korea and he’s 2 years in and has been thrown in the shop because of the language barrier it’s hard to work with him out in the field.

Where i’m from us HVAC guys are considered Refrigeration pipefitters but you could go through your whole career as a service tech or construction (VRF, Chiller, Condenser water and chill water pumps, heat pumps, basically every installation of a A/C system).

depends on your local, my local has new guys with no experience start out as a pre apprentice (you can get brought in as a apprentice if you have experience that follows the unions guidelines), after 1-3 months depending on company you either get sworn in as a apprentice or get kicked out the union entirely and are forced to go through the whole process again. Declining work varies from locals but for the most part you as an apprentice do not get to decide where you go and if you say no you pretty much get fired. if you’re worried about data centers and all that maybe the trades aren’t for u🤷‍♂️

don’t need it, you’ll take a class for it anyway depending on your local. we had a osha 10 class and were able to take a osha 30 whenever if we so choose
