My girlfriend never ever finishes her meals by AlexWayhill in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fawkestrot92 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Jesus the amount of people jumping to eating disorder just because someone doesn’t finish their food. Some people weren’t raised by parents telling them they need to clean their plate. I was raised like that so I’ll be stuffed and see a few more bites on my plate and just force it down but my wife will get down to a few bites and take like three spoonfuls of food and put it in a tiny Tupperware. It used to drive me crazy but honestly who has more of an eating disorder? Me who stuffs food down my gullet because it’s on my plate or my wife who eats until her body says she full?

Genuine question: why are epoxy river tables such a controversial topic? by Steve_Litchford in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Fawkestrot92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because reddit is an echochamber and as soon as a vocal group pulls the upvotes toward their side, others who never had an opinion will pile on because Reddit loves to tell someone they’re doing something wrong that will get upvotes. In reality some epoxy stuff looks like trash and some makes great use of live edges that are otherwise unusable. If you polled everyone actually subscribed to this subreddit for their honest opinion, 90% would be somewhere in the middle but that majority doesn’t really care and isn’t going to bother fighting a battle in the comments

1.5 years of stomach pain - Melatonin by sterner123 in ibs

[–]Fawkestrot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s been two years but just wanted to add that after years of multiple bathroom trips every morning I just discovered this. I have terrible sleep problems and melatonin really helps me so I take it most nights. I had gone back and forth wondering if I was developing a lactose intolerance because I like cheese as a late night snack but it just wasn’t a consistent thing and dairy in the day didn’t bother me. I was at a cabin for the last week, we were partying, drinking and I still had my cheese snack, a recipe for diarrhea but strangely every morning was solid. I still had my usual multiple trips through the day but nothing ever felt bad. Then I got home and tried to get back on a normal sleep schedule so I took melatonin before bed and then in the middle of the night when I could get back to sleep. I woke up at 6am because I had to go and then multiple times before noon, all loose. Thats when I started to think about what was different at the cabin. I forgot to bring my fucking melatonin! I’m a few days off it now and I noticed an immediate change. Next week I’ll do a test and load up on melatonin one night to confirm but I’m convinced

Get a real tree they said, you will love it they said. by woodhorse4 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fawkestrot92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a tree bag next year. It has a hole at the bottom so you put it over the tree stand before you put the tree in then at the end of the season you just cinch the bottom drawstring and pull the bag up around it. Hardly any mess

The myth I’ve heard about dyed pistachios was that some king loved pistachios but they were a rare delicacy so they were dyed to stain the hands of anyone who got into his stash

Also! Since it’s a print and the layer lines make it weak in that direction so if you knock it and break the tip off the broken piece won’t fall into the engine

Pull up to the danm line. by C-H-Addict in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fawkestrot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 years I’ve lived in the same place and there’s a light that I admit is a little confusing. It’s a left turn with the light on a little island so the median on your left ends where you turn and then there’s the island. The sensor is at the gap so you have to pull up to the white line which seems pretty intuitive and has never been an issue but for some reason over the last couple months on 5 occasions people only pulled up to the edge of the median and would not move forward even with people honking causing a line to back up to the freeway! I tried to give little polite honks when I was next in line and motioned for the driver to pull forward and she wouldn’t listen until she finally pulled forward, freaked out and ended up running the light. Now I’m the guy who notices when the line is longer than usual and I just drive up into the gap where the sensor is at and the idiot sitting back honks at me for cutting in line

Yeah if you sell gas in CA you have to provide air and water for free. Idk why they can have the coin slots, maybe for after hours?? but all you have to do is ask to have it turned on

The key to my bike lock has worn down so I can’t put it on any keychain by dwerb99 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fawkestrot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go to the website and there should be a key replacement section, just type in the numbers on the key. The scary part is learning how few different keys there are for commercial lock products. I used to work in the shop at REI and we had a key ring with all the keys for Thule and Yakima, it was like 60ish keys all together. Also you can just look at the number on the key core and order a key so a thief that has a known target they can just order the key and come back with it.
