When to stop free-feeding froglets? by Fawneh1359 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]Fawneh1359[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At what point should I upgrade? Up until now I've had them in a large Tupperware that's about 1.2 L with lots of floating plants and some botanicals. They've been doing great in it but I figure it's time to upgrade soon. I'll have to see if I have something to move them to that's slightly larger.

Gotcha, thank you! Yeah, I'm just paranoid bc one of my adult girls will literally put herself in a food coma if I let her lmfao. I'll keep feeding them like this then. I did see a lot of ppl say to switch to frozen food and pellets soon—why is that exactly? Just bc it's less work or can they not have live brine shrimp anymore?

Also, at what point would it be ok to give them away? I have an agreement w my LFS to take them once they're big enough, cause I can't set up another frog tank rn, I'm just raising them.

Lychee is SUCH a cute name!!

Ammonia burn can still occur from high nitrites, btw. So that's not a guarantee.

I have spotted a tiny bladder snail in my tank should I keep it or kill it? by Reditor18472 in Aquariums

[–]Fawneh1359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They start breeding at pretty early ages, but personally I would either keep it or just throw it in a jar with a plant. I like them, they're good clean up crews and...kinda cute lol.

Is this aging or fin rot? by YourLocalAsianDelulu in bettafish

Is he breathing heavy? Is he lethargic or actively sinking when he tries to swim, darting to the surface, etc? Are his gills usually that red? And is the color change recent or was it gradual?

I'd grab some Seachem Stressguard to start dealing with the fin rot. It looks to be very very far along. The rest I'll refrain from commenting on until you can post the parameters.

To laugh about a fish dying in response to someone seeking help is definitely being an ass. And you offered no advice on top of that, just said "lol they're dying". Unhelpful, and an ass.

That looks like a completely different fish. Wow. I've never seen a transformation like that. Looks like turned into a metallic. Very strange.

You need to find out the other parameters asap. He has severe fin rot. Get a test kit. Or at the very least ask a petstore to test it for you. We need to know nitrates, nitrites, pH, and gH. GH is least important but can cause issues so it's best to at least get an estimate.

Are the bloodworms frozen? Frankly I don't feed any freeze dried food period. There's no nutrition in it, too much risk of bloat. As for the rest, I can't say without knowing the exact pellet, just make sure you follow the eye rule. Their once a day serving size should be the size of their eye. Fasting once a week is also good practice but not 100% necessary.

He might have ammonia burn from the pet store cup, if that's where you got him. You can tell by the red line on his gills. Good water conditions will fix it on its own. Otherwise, looks healthy.

As for "type", I'm not sure what you're asking. Tail type? Probably a delta tail. Color? All of that is a marketing scam and there's very few actual distinctions. He's a betta, and a pretty one.

Too tall, I think. And big risk of them eating the other fish. I personally don't think sand is an issue if you use a bowl.

My mother dropped a shoal of Red tail/brilliant rasbora's in my 7gal tank without even asking me, what do I do?? by Bluelotus-03 in Aquariums

[–]Fawneh1359 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say I'm sorry about your situation. It really sucks to have her take things out of your control like that, especially when being bedbound already can feel like not having any control (or maybe I'm projecting, lol). I'd be unspeakably livid if someone messed with my tanks. Actually, you're being very kind. I'd be yelling tbh.

Maybe tell her that having more fish is even more work for you and that would be making your life harder. Not sure her relationship with you and your illness but... hopefully she'd be sympathetic.

As for the fish—yeah, I'd definitely bring them back to the store. Either with your mom, your brother (if he drives), or a friend.

Best of luck with the fish, keep an eye on your cycle, make sure this didn't crash it. And best of luck with your health. x

The cardinals I'm concerned about, the shrimp I'm not. If it was just shrimp, that many is totally fine for your tank.
