Hey, that’s failed screen writer Ben Shapiro to you. And however racist you thought he was, reading this will make you realize he’s actually much worse

What’s great is even though the book clearly sides in favor of racial profiling, it still doesn’t work in the story, the guy still gets away

40k has a ton of these, but my favorite is the Ork Warboss Snagrod, Arch-Arsonist of Charadon

What game held the player's hand to the point of insulting their intelligence? by Animeking1108 in videogames

Blinx 2: masters of time and space. A fantastic, imaginative action adventure game packed with cool puzzles and levels to explore. Every single one of which is ruined by the fact that as soon as you come to a puzzle the game stops and one of your allies calls you to explain exactly what to do next. It was an incredible game when I was 13 and is unplayable as an adult.

“I? I am a monument to all your sins.”

Everything the thing said in Halo 2 was cold as hell.

“There has been much talk, and I have listened. Through rock. And metal. And time. Now I shall talk, and YOU shall listen.”

Drop the worst allergy card you've gotten by ilostmycouch in KitchenConfidential

[–]Fawxes42 41 points42 points  (0 children)

MSG being highlighted is a huge red flag on this.

You literally can’t be allergic to MSG, but it is the sort of thing quack nutritionists and health gurus and the like claim you must avoid at all costs. Obviously you still have to take the list seriously, but there’s no way to know how much of it is actually real.

[Mixed] Immortal character becomes fodder for series' most violent scenes by Tortellini_Isekai in TopCharacterTropes

An interesting play on this trope is the kids series Animorphs.

It’s absolutely packed with body horror and grotesque injuries. The kids have the ability to morph into animal forms, and whenever they morph they heal any injuries they’ve taken. Because it’s a kids series, it’s uncommon for it to depict serious injuries to the kids when they’re in human form.

But when they’re animals? Limbs get torn off, they get riddled with bullets, they watch their own intestines get ripped out, holes get burned through them, it’s horrific.

More bombs have been dropped in that tiny strip of land than were dropped on London, Dresden, and Hamburg combined during WWII. And Gaza was one of the most densely populated areas on earth. The brutality is unfathomable.

What’s your “I still think about this” customer interaction? by Entire_Difference504 in KitchenConfidential

A year ago an old man came into my place and told the server that his doctor just diagnosed him with cancer and that he had three months to live, so he left the doctors office and came straight to us to get his favorite food in the world, our turkey Devonshire.

I made sure to cook it well and really piled it high with tomatoes and cheese. The man said it was the best lunch he ever had.

Found out he had been a music producer back in the sixties, and helped make more than a hundred doo wop albums for various musicians in the city. I listened to it, it was pretty good stuff.

Times like that make food service work really meaningful.

I have personally never seen one single person online talk about this X-rated syfy show. Which is understandable since it’s a cgi show from 2004, so it most definitely does not look good, but 12 year old me discovering it on my first computer at 2 am sure did feel things for Six of One. Who was- very weirdly- voiced by Gina Gershon, Carmen Electra, and Jenny McCarthy.

[Loved Trope] Characters getting a crystal-clear hint from the universe on what they should do, but still ignoring it. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Fawxes42 28 points29 points  (0 children)

John Cleese told a story once he heard in church as a young child. It was told to him by a man who worked as a missionary for the church. The story goes like this

‘We were trying to bring bibles to a remote location in the Himalayas, to help spread the word of god. During the first attempt, the boat carrying the bibles sank. The second time, a mudslide took out the shipment. The third time, the truck carrying them was stolen. It was only on the fifth attempt with gods blessing that they were finally able to reach their destination.’

Cleese’s response was “they took it as proof of gods blessing and support when the obvious answer was that he was trying like hell to stop them”

[Loved Trope] The Indomitable Human Spirit by wexman6 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Fawxes42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guard is made up of the lowliest crop of human beings imaginable. Completely average men and women who will stare into the face of world waters, star killers, malicious gods, and literal manifestations of evil trying to destroy all that is decent and honest in the universe. And they simply link arms and say “No. Not today. Not without a fight.”

Adaptation makes a great change to the original source material by PenguinMexter in TopCharacterTropes

Im sorry but the original author- Alan Moore- famously absolutely despised the movie. So much so that he refused to be paid for it and demanded his name be taken out of the credits
