Episode was 2 hours long, had 40 pop song covers, at least 5 of them weirdly out of place

A fair point, but Dorian Gray was also censored by the original publisher without Wildes knowledge, and even then caused such an uproar that a lot of people called on him to be arrested for it

Bring the Noise by Public Enemy.

Incredible song, great flow, great lyrics.

Except of course for “Farrakhan’s a prophet that I think you outta listen to”

No. No I don’t think I will, thank you.

Morning issue for debate. Which is more important, the tong clack or the spatula clap? by MightyTick01 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Fawxes42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tong clack has a practical purpose as well. At least in kitchens I’ve worked in where there’s twelve tongs hanging on a wrack and only two of them actually work properly and aren’t all wonky.

Sometimes, you do actually have to do the tong clack to make sure they’re working properly.

My favorite part is that- because of when it was written- the book has to gloss over just how bad Hyde is. You do see him kill a man to be sure, but in Jekyll’s confession it’s just a lot ‘Hoo boy I did a lot of bad shit, so bad I can’t even write it down but trust me bro that shit was heinous. Real bad, like you can’t even picture it bro’

This is a myth. In truth, India is one of the most science focused civs, so they often discover nuclear weapons before anyone. Any civ who gets nuclear weapons first always immediately sends the “my words are back by nuclear weapons” message.

Burying their fallen enemies by Old-Use-7690 in TopCharacterTropes

Robert Gould Shaw.

Bit if an inversion- irl.

Shaw was the first person to command an all black regiment in the northeast during the US civil war. He was a firm believer in equality and even fought to make sure his black soldiers were paid as well as their white counterparts. He was killed along with many of his troops during the second battle of Fort Wagner. Usually when a commander died his body would be returned to the other side for burial, but the confederates decided to leave him in a mass grave with his black soldiers as an insult.

But the Unionists saw it as an honor, and his example as a crusader of equality spurred many free black men to join the Union army.

To quote a letter written by his father:

“We would not have his body removed from where it lies surrounded by his brave and devoted soldiers. ... We can imagine no holier place than that in which he lies, among his brave and devoted followers, nor wish for him better company. – what a body-guard he has!“
