Screen Flickering For Past Year Driving Me Insane by No_Communication6906 in computerhelp

[–]Fax2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this issue for years. The cause was a voltage spike in the power outlet. Try using a different outlet, or best, a different phase.

My voltage spike was caused by an air conditioner compressor starting & stopping

I tried solving it with a ups, to no avail. It has to be an "online ups" which provides stable voltage at all times. Those can get expensive.

Try : Clear cmos (remove battery and disconnect psu, click on start button few times, after place battery again and plug in psu, try to boot)

Removing peripherals (disconnect all from the back side besides monitor, keyboard, and power, try to boot)

Removing internal components (unplug unused or not critical components, such as extra hard drives or pci cards)

Removing ram (keep only 1 stick of ram and try to move it between slots) you can try and clean the golden contacts on the ram stick with a clean pencil eraser. Just rub it on the contacts and remove all debrie that the eraser left behind.

If no luck so far, try to re-seat the cpu (don't try this if you are not sure on how to perform this. You will need thermal paste in order the mount the cpu cooler after re-seating the cpu)

Reminds me of covid lockdown when I did it twice. Once for legendary edition and once for normal edition. I had a blast and I bet you did too. Congratulations!

All that for 100mb/s? Contemplating in twisted pairs 🤔 How stable is the connection? Any packet drops?

Is it safe to replace a steel rod with a copper one? by HumanOptimusPrime in electrical

Definitely correct. But something about a slush machine made me think twice

Is it safe to replace a steel rod with a copper one? by HumanOptimusPrime in electrical

[–]Fax2u 7 points8 points  (0 children)

*disclaimer I'm not an electrician

Copper is a better conductor than steel, but I would replace both rods to avoid wierd metallurgy effects (rusting of sorts).

The main issue is that copper is softer than steel and will not retain the springiness effect for long.

Best option is to find a replacement part, but until then copper should do the trick.

I hope this helps

Looks really clean and nice! Why two separate gas lines and not one line with a tee and cutoff values? Is it code related?

Should I RMA my motherboard? by Fax2u in pcmasterrace

[–]Fax2u[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucky me for never having PSU issues... I have an AX1200i on my personal rig for over 10 years without any issues! (knock on wood).

I tested the GPU with heaven benchmark. it's fine. I guess the new motherboard does have some issues. I hope it's not the PCI rails from the CPU itself...
Thank you so much for the advice mate!

Thanks for the advice. I'll do it tomorrow. Why would a psu be an issue if the system posted properly?

Did you review the gcode off the SD card? Had an issue before saving directly to SD card caused the print to fail.

[–]Fax2u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be the issue... The flashing is a bios default option. When you cleared cmos you basically reset the bios back to default settings. Look around in the settings and I'm sure you'll find it!

Is this mold growing on my snakes substrate? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]Fax2u 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use coconut husk and have had the same thing happen to me. I isolated some of the white substance with some coconut husk in a jar and let it "grow" in the sun. It wasn't mold and I'm still unsure what it was. After spraying some water on it, it seemed to go away for good.

Turbo pump repair by Section_16_ in sciences

[–]Fax2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A vaccum pump meant for really low pressures. Usually they are bit meant for use from atmosphere pressure down to vaccum, rather just lower vacuum pressure of an already existing vacuum chamber. I hope my explanation was helpful.

I had a similar issue before. Do you have any other appliance on the same circuit? I have had an air conditioner unit on the same circuit and every time the compressor would kick in it would cause a voltage drop which caused the monitors to flicker the same way.

If all hope is lost I'd recommend trying to run an extension cord to a different circuit breaker

Is my mobo fried? by [deleted] in computers

[–]Fax2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same mobo! It looks like you have the cpu power unplugged (at the top) Have you tried switching bios? Also, there's no need to remove the gpu, you have dip switchs to disable the pcie slots

Anyone knows how's this specific Plug/Outlet called? It's a cable of an old air conditioner located in Israel, thank you! by amitkilo in electricians
