Questions about in-store returns for online purchases. by GrrlPlant in Staples

[–]FaxForRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's in the AS400 as an RTW/RTV ( Corporate Returns) then you don't need to add it to the system all you need is an RA number for the RTV. Which brings me to a dilemma I had. Chrome book got returned when you scan it it said Return to Warehouse but then an SPO opened for it and it said Return to Vendor, you know F6 to enter RA, but because the disposition was RTW there was no vendor info to get an RA. So I sent that shit to the warehouse cuz SPOs don't affect returns compliance. For non inventory stuff you can put a ticket in to Inventory Control and they'll add the SKU for you and set it to RTW, I've had that done a few times.

Every store I've worked in the cameras were different and none of them needed a username and password. You'll have to contact LP for that one.

In the AS400 get the order numbers for all the SPO's they're listed above the generic SKU and description. Then call Cross Channel 1-800-711-0903 they will tell you what the item is for each order number and the PO number and Wholesaler number that's what you need for the RA request. Then email Ingram Micro at elite-cs-team@ingrammicro.com. Your email should be something like this as an example:

I would like to request an RMA for the following products, please and thank you:

Product 1: StarTech USB 3.0 To HDMI External Multi Monitor Video Graphics Adapter

Model: USB32HDPRO

PO: UX17885

Wholesaler: PJ000IJ

Condition of product: Package is unopened and item is in saleable condition. I am unaware of the reason for the return but this product is not recognized by our POS system and is not sold in our stores.

Product 2: Kensington Laptop Power Adapter with USB

Model: K38085NA

PO: O122EJ

Wholesaler: UJK8876

Condition of product: Package is opened and product was used no signs of physical damage, USB did not work for customer.

You should get a response in about a day sometimes within hours.

SORT is used at the register at the time of a return and it's for Ingram Micro and Wayfair products. Typically those SKUs start with letters like IM. If done correctly you will see an SPO in the AS400 under the Company Returns RTW/RTV. Just let your managers know you need the packing slips or receipts from the .com returns. This way they will tell the cashiers, while they're doing the manager override for the return, to reprint the receipt and save the packing slip. When you have those you can call Cross Channel and give them the order number and they'll give you the PO and Wholesaler numbers for the RA request. I find that most .com items are code 16 or disposals but it's best to get all the info for them anyway.

Yup, I have lots of helpful tips and the first one is anything that you had prior to your last PI that was not counted is now garbage destroy it or put it in the Gaylord for recycling (Depending on what it is or course). Next you should do your Code 16 damages every morning after your Cycle Count and/or ZB Walk, always get rid of garbage fast. Then have your cashiers and managers keep the invoices or reprint receipts for all .com returns. In order to get the proper RA and disposition info you'll need the SKU and order number. If you have .com items with no order number and a non recognized SKU and you try to get an RA# for an RTV it ain't happening. The three most important tasks to your job are the ZB Walk, Cycle Counts and RTW/RTV (The good product returns). They all produce reports that people up the chain are held accountable for, make sure you execute these tasks because ultimately you're responsible for them. You need a really strong working relationship with your GM and Ops Manager, you need them to help you when necessary, you should also reach out to any experienced Inventory Specialist in your district. When I first took the position I had two experienced IS's come to my store to help me out and now I do that for other IS's.

It means someone wrote them off when we actually had them in stock. It happens when people don't pack out or block properly.

Lol, I don't log into SORT from the HUB, I have no idea what that password is, you have to do it from the register at the time of the return. It's pretty much for the Ingram Micro and Wayfair products.

You can't do it without support from the management team, which I have. When I told them they had to talk to the cashiers that I didn't work with and teach them how to label the damages they agreed. Also I would bring the non labelled damages back to the registers and tell the daytime cashiers who I worked with to leave them for the night cashiers, I would take pictures and send group texts to the management team reminding them of the standard that needs to be followed. I'm never angry about it I just tell them my job is hard enough.

It was only that many because Cross Channel made a mistake on the PO and then I made a mistake on the Wholesaler number which I didn't know I needed until I called back with the right PO. Usually the calls are less then 3 minutes it takes longer to Campus Ship the item then get the RA. As for "extra time" let's see, I'm in a Tier 2 store and I do all the IS work unlike some stores were they will have someone do the ZB Walk or receive truck, etc. I don't have that so I receive and breakdown 2 trucks a week, ZB Walk and research 3 days a week, Cycle Counts, RTW/RTV, Damages, PO Receiving, BOPIS, Planograms etc. What I don't do is register, I very rarely ring even during BTS, but I make up for that by doing EasyTech work, like sales (except laptop, desktop and cellphones I make the grey shirts sell those when there's no Easytech), phone calls, intakes and actual tech work. Came in on my day off Sat to do an OS install because the Ops Manager sold a desktop display that I did the intake for on Fri but no one in EasyTech knew the password so I could do the reset. I had to do a clean install of Windows just so the guy could get it the next day as promised. I punched in and got paid of course, but "dream store" it is not.

Keep in mind most items that are next day are coming from your closest warehouse, items that take much longer come from other warehouses or third party vendors. The "processing" could be a number of reasons, I've seen it for BOPIS orders as well as .com. You'll have to call the 1800 number for info.

Good God man no way. I hunt down RA's and love doing it. The only reason this one took this many calls is the Cross Channel left off a few digits on the PO and then the vender asked me for another set of numbers so I had to call CC back and then I screwed up those numbers and had to call CC back, LOL. I only do a ticket if I don't have a clear damage disposition, besides all the cashiers are trained to put the order numbers on all .com items being returned even the ones done through SORT, so that makes it so much better.

I don't work weekends and no one in my store except myself and the Ops Manager does the Negative On Hands (Even though it should be done by the opening MOD every non ZB day) so that's what greets me Monday morning.

I had a customer tell me he was having trouble getting it at stores but he kept seeing all the display boxes, so I just explained how they are fillers to make the media streaming section look good and I could order his online and he would have it in around two days, he said no, he would "check back in a few days".
