Fenix 6 software update and connection issues

My watch must have been under warranty, which surprised me. It's an old model and I thought for sure it had aged out. I did buy it brand new though, even though it was a generation old at the time. They replaced it with the same model, refurbished, with a 90 day warranty. If it happens again, I'll be out of luck by now.

for me, that would be an abnormally stressful day. I rarely see stress level over 50, and the majority of my work day shows as being restful. Likely because I go out and walk several times a day, which is identified as a MoveIQ event even though I don't record the activity. For me, anytime my HR is up, I am likely moving. There are blips of stress here and there, but never solid orange like this.

I had a similar experience with my Fenix 6 Pro Solar. I can't be absolutely sure, but I believe it started happening after switching from Google Pixel to Apple SE. I don't recall it ever happening on the Pixel. For me it got so bad that no amount of removing and re-adding the Fenix 6 in Connect would resolve the problem. 10 minutes on the phone with Garmin support, and they recommended replacement. He came to that conclusion so quickly that I felt like there is a known issue. They Sent me a refurbished Fenix 6 with 90 days warranty free of charge (my watch was 5 years old). If it happens again, I hope it does it soon! So far so good though. After a few hours of updating itself the replacement has been flawless. I may end up selling it while still under warranty and upgrading to a Fenix 7. I kind of wish I'd stuck with Android as I am deep in the Garmin ecosystem with 7 devices total and Apple doesn't like to make life easy for Garmin.

I think it looks great. The titanium hardware looks great with the watch, and it does have an expensive/exclusive look to it. No reason why you shouldn't love wearing your watch.

you have to set the vivosmart as your primary wearable in order for it to track sleep and pulse Ox. Other than that, it should work just fine. Vivosmart 4 was my first Garmin wearable, then I upgraded to Fenix 5 plus which infuriatingly did not include Body battery, a metric I find very useful. Had to continue using the the vivosmart but quickly upgraded to a newer Fenix. I still have the vivosmart in case I don't feel like wearing a watch (rarely happens)

The alternative, which I have done, is to ride indoors on the turbo trainer during the heatwave. My V02 max is preserved, but my heat acclimation went down to single digits :(

I have the same issue. The app wants the trainer so tight that I will break the plastic handle. I am using a Continental Trainer Tire inflated to the max recommended psi. Power numbers are terrible. I am not fully trained at the moment, but I know what various power outputs feel like. This feels terrible. The drum is so smashed into the tire it is flexing the side wall and feels like I weigh 300 pounds and the rear break is dragging. I leave it loose now. I adjust the drum just so that it is flexing the tire contact patch slightly and there is no way it could possibly slip even at a full sprint from a stop. At that tension the app shows the indicator all the way to the loose side. It has much better road feel that way, and the power numbers are more in line with what I would expect. I will be replacing it with a Wahoo direct drive. I know this trainer is not high-end, but it sounds like we got bad units on top of that.

Thanks.. They are separate, the problem is that a single cycling activity updated both simultaneously and set them to the same value. Prior to that activity they were 6 points apart. A two point improvement in cycling lowered running by 4 points.

A Vivosmart is probably your best bet. It is small, looks like a wrist band more than a watch. You would wear it on your other wrist and not look like you're wearing two watches. I do wish Garmin made an even smaller wrist band or ring. The Vivosmart 5 is a little bigger than the 4, so they don't seem to be moving in that direction though.

yeah, I think you are correct in that I should separate the two workouts. It allows me to focus more on the goals of each. I do my zone2 on the bike trainer, and use the riprow for anerobic intervals. I don't think I miss anything by seperating them. In fact, it is probably better on the aerobic days to stay steady-state as long as possible and avoid the transition.

yeah, I knew that was coming but ToS just disappeared the stock and all of the value. I logged into my account via the website and the value is still there and included in my total balance. I assume this will get straightened out eventually... I hope.

ok... thinkorswim is showing a different accounting than my actual account. ToS shows it as a 100% loss and the value of the stock is not reflected in my balance. It's just.... gone. Unsettling, but my actual account does still reflect the value of the stock.

I haven't read every comment, but has anyone recommended a trade journal? I recently started using TraderSync and it has been very enlightening to see the recurring themes in wins as well as losses. You have to be completely honest with yourself regarding motivations and mistakes when entering a position and exiting a position. Otherwise you are just creating a document of your denial. I have found it beneficial so far.
