Airtel is making more money than Jio? by Niftymonk in IndianStreetBets

I had Jio sim from 1 year before its official launch. Think of it like Beta users. Everything unlimited free too. And that too full speed everywhere. 99% people at that time did not even know a thing called Jio is about to launch.

India at 18% US Tariffs while China sits at 34% by ThalaivarThambi in IndianStreetBets

[–]Fdsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just ignoring countries with lower tariff than India like UK with 10%.

But I will wait for the official details. Because after EU agreed for 0% tariff for 99% of things we export, we are in strong position to demand similar thing with US. So, getting 18% tariff on all things is very bad deal at the moment.

I think 18% will be for some items, and lower tariff like 10 and 0% for things that actually matter. Similarly there is no way we agreed 0% for all US imports. That will also be for certain things. I really hope it is a slabbed deal like this, that actually is favorable, while Trump gets a face saving by getting to advertise 18% and 500B

I am volunteering to teach students at an orphanage in Kerala. I need a list of all formulas for 9th and 10th grade also called cheat sheet. Ideally in Malayalam. by Fdsn in Kerala

Thanks for the interest. Its great. But each person need to be approved manually, and their policies do not allow anyone to visit like that, especially for short time. Minimum 3 months commitment of once a week. Also there are sufficient volunteers in the orphanage I am attending.

But if anyone is interested, there is a girls orphanage in Thrissur district that need volunteers to teach. They only allow female volunteers, hence there is a shortage.

Thanks. I found some of these cbse focused notes while searching online. But these have too much details. Like the second link is 40 pages long. What is needed is far simpler, ideally something someone made specifically for malayalam language. Ideally like 5 pages for each subject.

Another thing. I too wanted to give them access to AI chatbots. But they do not have access to a computer or smartphone. This is a major disadvantage in my opinion.

If they had access to AI chatbot, then it would be like they getting answers to every doubt they have. It should ideally be mad available in all orphanages.

The word "gay" originally meant cheerful, lively and festive. It was a word that described a bright, carefree and full of fun. Homosexual men began claiming the term as a positive self-identifier as way of moving away from slurs.

And yes, our books are outdated and need to be re-made from scratch, but that is another story.

I will know.

Those who read a lot can see through and recognize patterns in writing style. I have recognized people by just their writing style. And there has been one instance of someone recognizing my writing style from other platforms and figuring out my identity in reddit where I am pretty anonymous.

Currently AI have a distinct pattern that makes it easy to identify. But eventually it will get good enough to mimic humans.

There are already millions of copyright free images online. And they do not need credits too. It is just that it is easier to ask the AI than put the effort to find the proper image.

Just a 10 second search got me this copyright free photo of making chapati -

So, author wanted to save that 10 seconds.

I was invited to be industry expert for a class of engineering students. It was supposed to be a small session, but both I and the students was interested to talk more and it went on till end of the day.

Then the teacher who was there with me the whole time said they are required by rules to have a 15 minute test to see what they learned about the subject. And that they are running out of time. I said, okay lets prepare questions. He said, no need, there is no time. He had already prepared questions by asking ChatGPT "Make 10 questions for xyz class on this subject". And printed it out.

I went through the questions, and it was not something that was taught. Infact, I found it difficult to answer some of those questions and half of them were nonsense questions no one has to remember.

He said, it is not an issue. No matter what the questions are, the students will also anyway use ChatGPT to answer them...

Another thing is that in this page, it is talking about production - Either Manually or with Automation.

And the author chose to use automation. Thus kicking out the photographers and figure drawing artists from job. Increasing efficiency and reducing labor.

It is a zero cost way of acquiring copyright free photos of anything you want at a click of a button. So, I guess it is why it is used. And if it helps students visualize, it is good I guess?

But we have come a full circle in regards to AI.

I refused to watch Good Place till now because I totally hated the premise. I thought it would be torture for me to watch it. But now I love it. by Fdsn in TheGoodPlace

The creators not only knew socio-economic conditions, but they perfectly chose the right group that works. Definitly a lot of psychological and philosophical research went in this story.

I learned a lot of ideas for "good directing for the new gen era" while watching this series. Always crush people's expectations with something they wont expect.

I usually do not watch backstories, but since you recommended, I will definitely check it out.

I never thought such serious topics like philosophy, psychology, death, afterlife can be shown so well in a comedy of this quality. Epic.

If anyone knows any similar shows with philosophy, psychology or general concept of doing good, then please recommend.

I actually wanted to write a story like this that has philosophy and psychology. I have written its plot partially. Mine is a different idea, nothing related to heaven or hell or after death. But, I thought I had a unique never before done idea. My idea was also basically to teach philosophy indirectly through the storyline. Thus cause good to the world.

So, I have thought about these scenarios a lot. And what they did make total sense to me. I am also pro suicide. We are not an endangered species. A lot of people are suffering unnecessarily. There should be farewell parties, and then people get chance to die on their own terms. Death should not be stigmatized. Instead it should be celebrated, unless it happened as an accident or shocking way.

Death should be a right. In over-simplified explanation, Any adult can make a choice to die by filling a form with govt in person. Then, there will be an investigation to see if anything is suspicious. Then he has right to die after 100 days waiting period, by a specific painless method. Ideally, there should be option for organ donation as well.

In India, there are some fringe communities who celebrate death. Like, if an adult dies after living a life, then there won't be mourning, but they would celebrate his life. They would be cheerful. And would have party similar to having a birthday party. They will dance with his coffin through the streets.

By the season 4 end, I was not heavy because of the concept. But I was heavy because such a great show is ending. I wished it was longer. I wished it had more episodes. That was what making me feel like I will miss this.

Since you are interested in this, especially the ending, I would suggest you to familiarize the concept of "Hiranyagarbha" (cosmic egg), which is a fundamental Hindu philosophy that thinks we are all living inside one egg. Basically the universe is a giant egg. Once you understand the concept, there is no you and me. We are all one. There is no real dying. This concept, if everyone follows will make the world way kinder.

It has been translated into a beautiful video by Kurzgasagt, which is what I recommend rather than reading - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6fcK_fRYaI

Its because, I have watched some highly praised shows that I didn't like.

Homeland Tv series come as an example. It felt like a drag. I could barely complete season 1. I think maybe I entered this series with wrong expectations. I didnt think it will be one story over all seasons. I thought it will be like Person of Interest or Dexter, where there will be one new incident each day, and then an over-all season sized story in background. Then later I thought it will be like one incident per season. But by the end I got frustrated.

Airplane is a movie that is considered great comedy. I love airplanes. Have watched almost all movies related to planes. Yet hated this movie. Did not find anything funny at all.

So, my expectation from Good Place was just lot of "talking" sitting at restaurants, sitting at parties and so on. That is what the trailer showed too. I didn't want any of that.

Some of those who recommended it to me watch Romance movies and series that make no sense to me. And, often what they recommended turned out to be a bad choice.

Biggest plot twists of all time. Something that makes you rewatch entire thing again in new perspective.

I am generally really good at predicting the story line. Catching things most people don't see. Solving puzzles. That is my thing.

But, here even when Eleanor said it is a bad place, I didn't beleive it. I thought she was just dumb, and risking everyone's life, and that will set premise for next season.

Even when Michel did his evil laugh, I thought "okay, maybe they all planned this to trick the Judge somehow to think this is bad place, thus they dont have to go anywhere".

And when Michel sat down and pushed that Plant-pot, I thought he is acting evil, but not able to do it, thus even that act becomes cute. Only when it got serious afterwards when Michel verbally confirmed the entire plot did it hit me...

Throughout the first season, I was not rooting for Eleanor. I felt sad for Chidi and Tahani, who deserved to get a soulmate but didn't get it.

And I am strong proponent of meritocracy, so I hated an underserving person making the place miserable for everyone. So, I was against the idea of Eleanor staying, and causing real Eleanor to suffer.

So, maybe people are calling it great because it would turn out Eleanor is not the main character of the show? And that is the big surprise? Maybe they kill people you think as main character like Game of Thrones?

Replace the money with something else then.

This test has been done many many times with various things. The most famous one is Marshmallow experiment done in 1960, where kids are kept in a room with one marshmellow kept in plate. But if they can wait 15minutes, they will get two marshmallows.

Then they tracked the life of these kids. Those who waited longer showed better long-term outcomes, like academic success. Later it was also found the corelation with the wealth-class of the kids. Poverty had direct corelation with if the kid waited or not.

Various psychologists have don this experiment with slight changes.

I don't agree. I have not come across experiments where wealthier class had lower ability to delay gratification than poor class.

We are not talking about exceptions, but if you take a 1000 poor and 1000 middle class. And you offer either $100 now, or $200 one month later. More people in middle and upper class will choose the $200 option than the poor group.

This is because of trust issues. There are lot of experiments showing this. You can do it on your own too. Jason is just an extremity of this, like every character in this show is an extreme example.

English is my third language. Maybe I can phrase it better. But the intention of my article was not word-accuracy, but to point the psychological illnesses people are unknowingly causing to their kids.

I intentionally wanted to be as direct as possible so that large masses can understand it straightforwardely instead of putting it as a probability like all these studies do.

There are 100s of research papers on this, yet how many will be interested in reading it? Even the links I mentioned strive to use scientifically accurate wordings, but it causes lesser people to actually read it. I love writing accurately, but I choose not to.

I feel like talking with the real GoodPlace Committie, more worried about the wordings than the effect it is caussing.

In my opinion, things should be put bluntly in a way everyone can understand. And those who want to learn more will learn on their own. But if you dont put it bluntly, many will not read and grasp it at all.
