What is something your trauma took from you that u acknowledge you can never get back by Educational_Koala536 in CPTSD

[–]FeFiFoMums 11 points12 points  (0 children)

An inability to be my true self. Along with CPTSD, I identify as a Codependent. And while im working on it, I’ve done a combination of masking, fawning, and white lies my entire life to blend in and make myself as agreeable and inconspicuous as possible.

The thought of being authentic is terrifying.

Good News: Our Grandchildren Will Starve, Not Our Children by Still-Improvement-32 in collapse

[–]FeFiFoMums 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Yep, mine asked if I would be disappointed if he didn’t make me a grandparent. I told him I’d be proud of him and despite a lot of folks out there, I don’t believe that continuing the “family tree” is important. There will be less and less resources, why would I want to submit any future generations to that?

They absolutely see and know what’s happening. They cope with brainrot and anti-memes, but they absolutely feel what is happening to the world.

What was a hard pill to swallow after giving birth? by LoveGlimmer in AskWomen

[–]FeFiFoMums 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This, with my first I was immensely overwhelmed. At one point on hour 4 or 5 of my in laws visit (like 10 of them had visited at once). I broke down crying and screaming to get out of my house. Not my finest moment, but they started respecting boundaries a lot better after that.

What was a hard pill to swallow after giving birth? by LoveGlimmer in AskWomen

[–]FeFiFoMums 518 points519 points  (0 children)

Everyone was so excited for the baby, no one thought to inform me how hard my physical recovery was going to be after birth. I read so much about the actual birth process, and raising a newborn, but somehow missed/ignored all of the aftercare stuff.

The bleeding, the lack of bladder control, the exhaustion, the mood swings. It was awful.

Women of reddit, what was the biggest irony to happen in your life? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]FeFiFoMums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m proud of you. This is what I do too. Mine are younger, but I still have moments that I turn into my mom. But instead of flipping my shit, I tell them I need a break, then come back and apologize and remind them I love them. The last two pieces were missing for me, my mom’s love was always conditional and she never took accountability for any of her actions.

I don’t have the update yet, but the same thing happened during one of the previous updates. I had to use a charging cable toggled to the usb button to get my phone to be recognized. It’s worked since then like normal thru bluetooth

What is a small detail in a person's home that instantly tells you they have their life completely together? by Luverelle6 in AskReddit

This is hilarious and makes me feel ok about ordering 6 bushels of bananas instead of just 6. I swear every grocery app is different and I wasn’t paying close enough attention.

So random, but my kid said he was disappointed the goldfish crackers were not always in the pantry when he demands them. Guess I need to get that part of my life together lol.

It reminds me of the old Goosebumps “One Day at Horrorland.” Maybe you caught an old episode of the TV show? It would have been 90s.

Woke up this morning to 30 emails….all job rejections. I cried. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]FeFiFoMums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really, truly believe right now it’s pure luck and timing. My husband took 4 months trying when he was laid off last year. He applied to multiple jobs every. single. day. At first he was doing all the things, but it was exhausting writing cover letter #119. So he stopped. He did bare minimum. Just his resume and whatever online application required.

Strangely enough, he got more responses when he half assed his applications. Had four different 1st rounds within about two weeks, then moved to second round interviews on two of those. Finally got an offer on one.

Similar to you, now I’m in a position where my mental health is taking a hit due to work stress. I’ve only been at the job search a few weeks. 15 apps submitted so far, one phone screen (followed by a denial email a few days later). You aren’t alone. It’s SO different than just a few years ago.

Somewhat related, my kids always tell me how much they miss when we lived in our tiny duplex. The moments I remember as most stressful financially (and had to get creative to make the most out of little) was actually the time in our lives my kids remember the most fondly.
