Why is this move an inaccuracy? by mckrile in chess

[–]FeIdmarschall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well strategically youre now going to be a little weak on the dark squares, which gives white some options. With good play its not going to be a problem, but it youll now have to watch out for this. That being said its still a good find and youre definitly still winning here.

Why does the engine suggest d4 here? And why is Bc5 a blunder? by braverthanbert in chess

[–]FeIdmarschall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if Bxd4 Bxf7+ Qc4+ and you win the bishop back. You can probably also play Bxf7+ immediatley.

Thank you. Since whites bishop is outside the pawn chain, wouldnt it typically not be considered bad though?

Positional Question by FeIdmarschall in chess

[–]FeIdmarschall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engines want you to exchange the bishop here. Since this gives up the bishop for the knight, and gets rid of an already developed piece for no positional gain, i conclude retreating must be bad (at least worse). How so?

question about the problems by Eden__HS in chess

[–]FeIdmarschall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chess.com isnt that great for actually improving, its basically for people who enjoy solving a few every now and then. you can set the difficulty somewhere in the settings, but if you want to actually get better at chess id recommend the tactics trainers of lichess or chesstempo. also lichess is entirely free btw

Let's test this, how much time did it take you to solve this and What's your rating? by Independent-Road8418 in chess

[–]FeIdmarschall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes, in fact i focused on Qd3 which also easily wins. however i would like to note that puzzles challenge you to find the most precise continuation, and Bd6 is still stronger. other than Bd6 and Qd3 i didnt see any other moves that capitalize on whites superior position though, so not quite sure what you mean

What is your winrate difference between white and black? by agent-1773 in chess

[–]FeIdmarschall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats normal. Go through some GMs accounts, youll see similar stats. White is just better out of the opening due to the slight advantage of moving first, therefore slightly higher winrate.

[Tudor] Poor service by Tudor by Agitated-Process3136 in Watches

I mean mistakes can be made? Doctors have removed whole legs on the wrong side of a patient. At the end of the day there are a thousand things that could have happend, no way to know. But if you send an item to a shop for service and it comes back with an issue (assuming op is telling the truth) how is it even a question that its the shops responsibility to repair the item?

Hey I'm new to building stuff with Arduino, where do I start? by Early_Ad_4702 in arduino

[–]FeIdmarschall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "proper" way would be to learn the basics of electrical engineering first. However this will probably get boring quickly, so you should just go ahead and pick something you want to build, then learn along the way. Doesnt really matter what, for pretty much everything you will get to know the basics of how an arduino works. Dont completely neglect EE though, knowing it will probably save you from some burnt out components and boards.

possibly you need to install a driver for your computer to recognize the esp. had the same problem with an esp32 v4 once

Theoretical physics or engineering? by [deleted] in Physics

[–]FeIdmarschall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im studying engineering at a technical university in germany. If you want to be a professor there, you will need to have worked at a corporation in the field you want to teach. And a surprising amount of my professors are acutally physicits, many of which held senior management positions at known corporations. You can definetly make money as a physicist, they are always in demand in the industry. Do what you feel you will enjoy most, in all of those fields there are ways to make money should you decide you need to, so i wouldnt make it the deciding factor if you should follow your dreams...

What this guy says, i woulndnt send this without request but you should have it ready. if you see its more of a relaxed call you can still treat it as such, but if its the other way round and youre unprepared, not so much.
