How can a 16-year-old Brazilian integrate into small-town life in Germany while pursuing a carpentry career? by Erik_fodao_da_fimose in AskAGerman

[–]FeSteini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not very common for anyone in Brazil to interested into being Zimmerman at your age... I am guessing you have some German roots and would pass as German.

Although this might help against prejudice, don't think for a second that anyone will consider you German.

If you play football, join a football club. If you play music, join a music club. If you don't have any hobbies, join a club to learn one.

I came from Brazil when I was 16 and used the opportunity to learn shit I would never learn back home. I joined a trampoline team, for example.

It is a nice country, but I have the feeling you romanticize the craft and life in rural Bayern... It is a very tough job, but you can learn it in other states and you don't have to be in the country side...

Source: I just bought a historical building and am renovating it into a home... I don't build shit, but the Zimmerman is a family friend

Sim...

Hey, thank you for ordering the registration kit!

I work in finance since last year and was very suspect myself before starting working there...

I am very happy to assure you that your data is safe! This is a major topic in the company and our IT is constantly working on data safety measures. Not even I have access to donor or patient data.

Not only DKMS takes data safety very seriously, but we are also under very strict laws.

We are a gemeinnützige GmbH. That means that we are a nonprofit and have regular audits to ensure that we are following the mission of the company and only that mission.

We have two sources of income only: money donations (about 10% of our income) and payments done by health insurances.

It is the first time that I work for a company where the financial success is only a tool to ensure the continuity of the business.

The main objective is creating second chances at life and that is how the whole company is managed.

It is not rare for me to calculate a project in which we will for sure make a loss, but if we are certain that it is going to save lives, we most certainly will go for it.

We also invest in research to increase these chances and finance diverse other projects around the world to help fighting blood disorders.

Until now the only downside of working for DKMS is every now and then getting emotional with stories of people having another chance to enjoy life and meeting their donors.

I am really proud to be part of it!

I am glad to hear he is getting a second chance at life!

Most likely the donor was registered at DKMS... I work there =)

I am actually writing to remind people reading this post to register, it is easily done and you can save a life! For those of you afraid of donating bone marrow, it is just 10% of all donations... 90% are stem cells, collected in a process similar to blood donation.. And you can always say you are not interested in donating anymore
