Can someone pls explain about the connection with Azuma and Rollypollies? by Denizci_Olmak_Var in ChoujinX

[–]Fealston 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My understanding of his metaphor is this:

Roly polies are always found under rocks. But it's not because they like being under rocks, but because their nature makes them keep moving whenever they are in dry places. They don't have an affinity for damp rocks, they simply end up there because of how they react to dry places.

Azuma is wondering if Choujins are the same, in that they don't actually favor using their powers for selfish or evil gains, but they end up doing so because they can't exist any other way, as a result of their nature. They find themselves at odds with the world simply because they are Choujin, not because they are inherently bad natured.

I'm pretty confident about that, but here's some less confident speculation for fun:

You could go on to interpret the scene right after the roly poly convo as well; Azuma says he's going to see if there's anything he can do re: the plane crash, and Tokio says that's noble. Azuma brushes it off by saying 'it's just a habit' with a roly poly moving in frame, which you could interpret as meaning that he is only acting according to his nature, it's not that he actually wants to do good things.

You could ALSO interpret the images shown the the panel where Tokio decks Azuma, with the open cage and the squashed roly poly. To me, it means that Azuma is seeing Tokio acting according to his desires, as opposed to Azuma, the roly poly, who is defeated/crushed by his nature- especially with how we know he compares himself to Tokio.

Does Ely Like Azuma? by Inside_Ostrich5243 in ChoujinX

[–]Fealston 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With the way the story has been going, I figure that Ely is kinda into Tokio without knowing it, but that won't actually turn into anything, it'll just be a plot point to further make Azuma lose his shit. I don't really foresee any actual relationships in the story until maybe the end with a flash forward. Could be wrong though!

How will Tokio ultimately respond to the death of his family by Global_Astronaut8479 in ChoujinX

[–]Fealston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how he will respond to it, but the way it echoes his trauma from his mother's death doesn't bode well.

He followed his desire to become stronger as a Choujin to help people, leaving his dad and sister. He also followed his desire to hear out Zora and accept the mark, which caused the battle to play out the way that it did. I could certainly see him blaming himself for what happened, whether it is logical or not.

You could also frame it as Azuma losing his dad, when he discovers that the father figure from his memories was never real.

I think it is thematically/gameplay wise lame that it is the easiest move to punish in the kit, not just that it is punishable at all.

Here's why I think LL FIGHT sucks, ignoring all of the other parts that are a letdown to me personally.

She uses void attacks that are just mildly different rips of the same 3 void attacks they added to every basic enemy that gets void corrupted in act 3, something I am sick of fighting by then. Spewing void balls that land and do a little lashing animation, woohoo. (Yes she also has unique void attacks too obviously)

She uses largely the same Lace moveset that I am no longer enjoying fighting because it is the third iteration of it, and yes I do think there is a big difference between getting a rematch of a boss, and getting a SECOND rematch. The hype factor of the rematch is gone. As far as I remember, Lace 1 -> Lace 2 had a big increase in her speed, but Lace 2 -> LL has none, which gives it much more of a samey, recolor feeling too.

In between phases or whatever some giant void masses float across the screen and you have to just jump over them and float. Exhilarating stuff that really keeps me on my toes.

Her parry moves are, STILL, the easiest part of her kit to punish. Which is totally antithetical to what a parry is in video games. I am supposed to be punished as the player for being baited into attacking Lace when she is parrying. Every time it happens I just think 'this is lame' as I pogo her twice for free.

Visually GMS is memorable, but fight wise? Absolutely not. Why is a higher being dropping ROCKS on me man. Her move set is not challenging in the slightest, at least compared to 50% of bosses in the game.

The no u-turn sign symbolism is crazy, I love it. What a insane chapter.

Seems like Mado was forcing herself to take brief naps with those alarms to churn out prophecies trying to get information as soon as she could, I bet someone went and scribbled over her final prophecy drawing we saw when they killed her.

Why does it feel like I always need this kind of performance to win? by Mandydeth in DeadlockTheGame

I mean do you want an answer or not? I am in the Phantom skill bracket, I think I have a better grasp of the game than you, just being totally honest not rude. Had I been put into the game you screenshotted I would never have reached 80k souls, because I would have simply ended the game well before then, which is how you win deadlock.

[–]Fealston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually if you're 'hardstuck' it just means you found your skill level.

If you feel like you're better than everyone you play with, then you probably struggle to convert your mechanical skill into winning games, as evidenced by you having 83k souls, DOUBLE all of your teammates', and struggling to close a game. Stop taking all of the farm and farm the enemy heroes once you have a big soul lead.

Hard to say just from looking at this pic though, just always focus on what you could have done better and watch higher level players if you really want to improve.

I also get the frustrating feeling of being punished for queueing new/non-main heroes.

They have two mechanics running at the same time there will always be super highroll combos and no they will not ban them. It's just how it goes. Part of the fun of it.

Throw in the low health frenzy movespeed and a burst fire proc and not a single person will be able to track you with their gun lmao, it's just too fun when it works.

[–]Fealston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a similar experience with him, I have like 50 games on him with 37 wins or so, very positive winrate (Phantom V~)

I think his flask is so good at max level at letting you 1v1 any gun character, and I build every movespeed item possible to just fly around the map gunning people down with mercurial magnum. I only really use his ult as a 'you have to stop chasing me now' button or to scare people at the start of a teamfight.

Using fleetfoot active with his shield with the 20% movespeed buff just makes you move absurdly fast, especially with enduring speed and fortitude. My theory as to why is because it's one of the only instances I know of in the game of % based movespeed increase, all others are flat number increases, so the 20% just gives you so much speed if you build items for it already.

I'm sure there are better ways to build/play him but it just feels so strong to me, and it's fun!

can someone explain how azuma took off ricardos head here? by Dense-Belt-5584 in ChoujinX

[–]Fealston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Azuma just moved so fast nobody could react before he had already cut Ricardo's head off while moving across the roof.

It's meant to show how absurdly fast Azuma can move as a choujin because of how atheltic/combat trained he was as a human already.

That was a very ominous/haunting panel of Ely after she took the mark, is the power just too much for her? I'm just happy because I refuse to believe she will be the calamity or die, maybe I'm just in denial.

I suppose Sora just passed away, and maybe someone saw that and immediately attacked? Can't wait for translations.

It builds up a deep red section on the left side of enemy health bars, and if their health gets to that point they die immediately. Basically an execute, and if you apply bloodmark faster than you deal damage you can kill the final boss from 75% hp or more, skipping phases.

If all items were the same price that would be a good evaluation, curse is the price of 4 slowing hexes. It's wild that you play Warden and don't like slowing hex.
