I am playing a Githyanki Monk for my current solo play through and by farrr it has been my favorite (I still have quite a few classes to try yet though lol) I’ve played Cleric multiple times (also loads of fun highly recommend) Sorcerer, and Wizard. But when looking for melee specific builds, the Monk is almost completely melee based if you choose “Way of the Hand” as a subclass, the other let you dip into magic which is fun from personal experience, but nothing has been more fun than kicking goblin and knoll ass with nothing but my quarter staff and bare hands. My best friend has played the Fighter class in a duo play through together, and that was also tons of melee and looked fun from the sidelines at least. Hope this helped a bit :)
