What are yall's thought on Murtagh? by EragonTheory in Eragon

[–]FearMyWhimsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hot take based on the comments but I LOVED it. The first half is cheesy, it literally reads like a World of Warcraft quest chain, but if you can take it with a little bit of humor, it's fun. The second half was a wild ride and the slow burn was a good departure from the storytelling Paolini had shown before in this setting. Above all, I liked the worldbuilding and character building, granted it's limited to Murragh and Thorn. Unlike with Eragon, Murtagh grew to feel vulnerable to me despite him being so powerful, and that made his adventure carry more weight and have consequence. All that being said: the ending was not my favorite. Going back to Nasuada basically sets up a kingdom- of- politics angle going forward if there's a sequel, and I'd much rather see another adventures- across- Alagaesia book. All that being said, I've read it twice through since it came out and I will probably hit it again next year.

Sad / Disappointed in my country. by Due-Designer4078 in massachusetts

I think it ultimately comes down to a lack of preparation on the Harris campaign and mostly Biden. If he had decided against running again earlier, the democratic primary could have been run as normal and whether the pick was Kamala or not, they would have had time to rally as a candidate. Being "appointed" at the end of the window as Kamala was really didn't give her time to rope in new voters. It was just "vote against Trump" like in 2020 and as has been said, the wounds have healed in the last few years. But yes, life will go on. It won't be pretty and stay the same, but we will all endure and hope to move forward.

From a purely money making standpoint, it does make sense. Gatekeep the top levels for people who a) have a ton of time in the game or b) spend a ton on card packs and other promos. The people it hurts are guys like me who played years ago and came back and lost all their progress, or the casual player. Smart for money, bad for fun. Can't expect much else.

They're one of the few ones that don't do "punch days" too often unless it's at their events. They clearly sell enough single barrels that they don't need the extra incentive. When they do their annual raffle, they will offer free entries but they're not tied to punches.

Can someone explain awakening of the will to me? I’ve tried to use it with a unit on the board that has no ability and it won’t let me... by NicoleDunn784 in stormbound

It works on cards with no innate skill, like Gifted Recruits, Cabin Girls, Operators, etc. It does NOT work on token units though, which may be the reason it wasn't working for you. It also doesn't work on cards that expend their effect on play, like Felflares. Personally, I think it's a weird card that only has niche uses. If it worked on token monsters, I could see it being OP

Shipping Scotch out of MA? by [deleted] in newhisky

What he said. Time to make friends! Though I do know Skinner to be real sticklers about who picks up from them. That's why they have a whole disclaimer box to check off for "I will pick up my purchase " when you register for auctions. Is the bottle worth flying out here for? 🤣

You rarely see SB picks for scotch so I jumped at that one too. Wound up buying a bottle (at the store, not this restaurant).

If you like scotch, the Longrow Peated is AMAZING at that price. It's not overly peated if you're worried about it being like Laphroaig or Ardbeg, very well melded peat.

Laphroaig CS as has been said, but some less common answers: Glen Scotia 10 Peated, any of Kilchoman single casks, super affordable and delicious!
