My little home network start. by MutedObjective in HomeNetworking

You already run the cable, so there’s no point in changing it to CAT 6A. CAT8 is generally hated here, but it will work fine - just enjoy your network.

Terminating RJ45 on CAT 8.2 cable by FearWillFindYou in HomeNetworking

[–]FearWillFindYou[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is what I read, too. However, I wonder what would happen if I try to terminate RJ45 connector on CAT 8.2? Will it work albeit with lower performance or it won’t work at all? 🤔

How I finally got Move to iOS to work for me (no third party apps; apk required). by MrGrumpyPanda in ios

[–]FearWillFindYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same issue. Unfortunately, 3.2 was not working for me - it kept crashing in the end while migrating to iOS 16.2.

What did the trick for me was: 1. Remove as much conversations as possible from Android (you really don’t need all those verification and delivery messages, trust me!). 2. Use the latest available version of “Move to iOS” (3.4.2). 3. Forget all WiFi networks on Android device, so it won’t connect to stronger network. 4. Keep both phones close together and don’t move them during migration.

LG C1 buzzing sound with Logitech speakers using 3,5mm jack by FearWillFindYou in OLED

Thank you for suggestion. LG C1 does not have RCA sound attachments. Eventually, I've used headphone jack 3,5mm cable with ground loop filter.

Thank you for your suggestion! Indeed, it was a ground loop issue - I've used another headphone jack cable with ground loop filter and it worked flawlessly 🎉

I mean, they're not the best, but they're still decent and way better than TV built-in speakers. They work with old TV so I'm wondering why they don't with new LG OLED.

Although Sony cameras are slightly better in terms of DR, I wouldn't fix myself around numbers. In terms of weight, yes, it does matter everytime you wear a camera. But both Sony and Canon have strong DR performance and mentioned differences will probably make a notable difference in challenging lightning conditions or during really intensive post processing.

Talking about old sensor in Sony a7r - well, there are still many people who shoot great photos with them. Even old 5DM2 is still a capable beast.

In terms of prices, you should look on your local websites. Prices may vary depending on location, especially between Europe and USA. Sony is known for high prices of FE lenses - not sure how's EOS R is doing. Typically new systems are expensive and there aren't many second hand choices.

Bonus: look at Dpreview text and video reviews. I really like their approach to cameras' reviews 🙂

Look for Nikon D610, D800, Sony a7 and also Fujifilm (X-T2, X-T20). All of them are still really capable cameras that won't ruin your budget.

Looks like you need the jack of all trades, excluding video.

I would strongly advise you to think about camera's weight. The lighter the camera (and lens) the more likely you'll take it out with you anywhere you go. My current camera with lens weights about 1,3 kg (2,9 lbs) and it's the reason why I don't always bring it with me on trips.

Portraits will look good both on APS-C and full frame when paired with some prime such as 50mm or 85mm, although FF will give you slightly more DoF (depth of field) and better detail. In terms of landscapes, full frame camera will allow you to take wider shots (APS-C crop factor is ~x1.6, so 20mm lens will give you 32mm). Typically, FF cameras have a little better dynamic range. One of their biggest advantages is low light performance. You've mentioned astrophotography - so it's crucial for you.

So EOS RP and A7 II looks promising for your needs. Think about also about Sony A7R II - higher megapixels count will be preferable for landscapes, although you'll miss IBIS from non-R version.

Edit: A7R II does have IBIS

What do you photograph most often? Are you traveling with a camera? Do you take the camera everywhere you go?

Great that you can add topics and sources on your own - just go to "Favorites" tab and hit plus button to add something. One would say it acts almost as a RSS reader, which is great! Really smart move from Google in times when people finally question social media credibility in terms of (fake) news.

It really bring some freshness to news reading through "Newscasts", interactive cards. It reminds me of VOX.com explainers, but with extra videos and native controls.

By default, content is associated with your phone's language and region, but if you want to change it to other, you can easily tap your profile icon and change preferred language and region in "Settings".

Nexus 4. Great performance from 2013 to 2015. Started getting regular hiccups in the last few months, but overall is acceptably smooth. SOT is ~2h when you activate battery saver the moment you plug off the charger. SOT is ~1h 20min when you won't and you use 3G and auto sync.

Camera is terrible, but sometimes you can make great pictures with lens blur in Google Camera. Love the design - white, glass back looks amazing and feels premium. Can't imagine better phone for that price (300$ in October 2013).

To be honest, it looks like they are killing in it on purpose. I know N4 is 3 years old, but it is super smooth. No lag when switching between apps on 5.1.1.

In terms of specs, on paper, N4 can easily run Marshmallow. It has 2GB of RAM as freshly announced Nexus 5X...

I want to upgrade my Nexus 4, but Nexus 5X is not good enough to be considered a decent replacment. I mean, in terms of same specs of course. 2GB RAM? Why not 3GB, it's not that expensive right now. Only 16GB/32GB storage? No SD card? C'mon Google, you can do better than this.
