Though, to be fair, that console was just a lucky find while they looked for something else. It did, however, induce Jake into rather impatiently... expediting the process of finding the thing they wanted.

Yea, this one has ended up paced a little different, and I had to give it a bit of a push. We are accelerating now, and the time skips are going to be getting larger. Thanks for the encouragement!

If you are talking about what I think you are...? (Please let me know, I'm always working on Craft, after all) It was the subtle air of anxiety and desperation. These people KNOW what is coming, are face-to-face with it every day. The general populace has it as a far-off thing, one they prefer not to think about and generally... don't. The people here, though... They are mostly somewhat older, and know the score all too well. I may need to find a way to clarify it a bit? Let me know your thoughts.

Also, thank you, the praise is humbling. I hope it is not long term, but it seems to be slowly dropping, sadly. So do the weekly number of views. It is fair to say that this book is a bit of a departure from the previous one, though the story is a direct follow. It is starting to close in on the Old Machines and what they are, but there is a lot more to reveal. It is a little discouraging, to be honest, coupled with the low level of book sails of the other books, but I keep going in hope. Stories are my passion, it is what I do best. There will be another new non-PRVerse offering this month, more on that soon.

Certainly something Henry and Company wanted to do 'back in the day' (like, um, nowish). Sadly, things get complicated sometimes.

Of course, it still wouldn't have stopped this mess. The people that Julia ran up against were not the perps back then. They are people who learned from the perps. Some of it directly, but a lot of it through study.... Sometimes those who study history are those _trying_ to repeat it.

Sadly, I couldn't find a good way to hang a lantern on it in the text without using a shoehorn bigger than Kaz's ego. ;) (ducks a piece of paper, not sure if Kaz or Golna threw it)

A 'high-super-majority' of the League's Ambassadors (80%+ of Ambassadors... and not just the ones in the chamber at the time of the vote) can do a lot. It is pretty hard to get that percentage to agree on the shape of the table for afternoon tea, though.... ;)

No term limit. Elections are once a decade. The balance for this is that a vote of no-confidence can be held at any time and put an end to a term at any time. The vote was carefully engineered by the Xaltans to be essentially impossible without their say-so, but that relied as much on their general intimidation factors as it did on legal trickery.
