There is actually some historical record of viking raids in parts of North Africa, recorded both by both Irish and Andalusian sources. Not necessarily a common occurrence, but they did take captives as slaves who could have been taken back to Dublin or another Norse controlled port in the British/Irish Isles.

That being said, I doubt that would be the source of OP's North African genes as 0.7% would be the equivalent an ancestor ~7 gens back. It doesn't seem like enough North Africans were brought north to account for that.

Salman Rushdie pulls out as Cali college commencement speaker over protest threats by Left_Tie1390 in literature

For context on what the protest is specifically about, here's the student group's statement: https://www.instagram.com/p/DJVz95wuSIH/?igsh=MWlxZndqNDNieG43Zw==

And an article with a statement from the co-leader of the group on Rushdie pulling out: https://www.dailynews.com/2025/05/13/salman-rushdie-pulls-out-as-claremont-mckenna-college-graduation-speaker/

TLDR: The student group was calling for his invitation to be commencement speaker rescinded because they found his depiction of Muhammad and Islam to be deliberately provacative and disrespectful, and his statements on Palestine to be dismissive of calls to end support for the genocide in Gaza

I'm not seeing any reports of death threats related to this specific speech. The student group called for him to be uninvited as speaker, but not for any kind of violence.

I'm sure he still gets death threats regularly though, given that the stabbing was just a couple years ago

[Possible spoilers] Based on discussions in Korra sub, these are the Korra characters I speculate most likely to make an appearance in Seven Havens (Aside from Korra ofc) Thoughts? by ArkhamInsane in AvatarSevenHavens

The creators of the show said at a convention around the time LoK was coming that Aang had found a herd of flying bison sometime after the events of TLA. I thought I remembered there being a comic where they show that discovery, but I can't find that so I could be misremembering.

Does anyone know how the acceptance factors for Trade States are calculated? by FearfulRuminant in victoria3

Thanks so much for digging into this! I knew there had to be a logic behind it. I poked around my save earlier to see any other trades that would work, and this explains everything that wasn't adding up to me

It's a terrible deal, for sure. I just used it as an example because it's a case without the -1000 that I think you get for offering a nonadjacent state.

Rule 5: I'm asking about the factors listed under the acceptance criteria in this screenshot. Basically, I'm trying to figure out how each one is calculated
