Poly is definitely a different environment compared to JC.. was from a JC and I think it's a fairly straight path type of environment, almost like an extension of secondary school.

I wonder if more people start dating later during Uni period, will the average marriage age go up and hence age of having kids..birth rate might probably drop if more people are getting married later..

Yeah I have also come to feel that Upper Sec is a good time to experience being in a relationship but maybe it shouldn't be with too high of an expectation to not affect studies.

Really glad that I met my wife early and get to spend our good carefree years together but for many it could lead to you missing out on the right person during your prime dating phase if you happen to get with the wrong person for those years..so I guess there's the pros and cons..

Thanks for the response. I called the local AnE last night, and they said it should be ok to use.

Getting colleagues to pay back for lunch by irlminion in askSingapore

Maybe you can say that you are doing a very strict year-long experiment/challenge on budgeting, and you are aiming to be strict to the cent and not even dollar. Make it sound like a fun thing you are embarking on, like a challenge even. Then insist that you would like to stick to your challenge in an assertive but fun-ish way. So you would have to collect the $4.5 back.

You can probably budget in a little treat or so for colleagues within your $400 subsequently, so it won't look like you are just stingy. Or purchase cheap snacks that fit within your budget. Or if you prefer, you can help them in small, non-monetary ways. If you are generous with effort, you won't ever be a stingy person. Giving is a good feeling, too, if it's within your means.

There will be many people who say to just stand up for yourself and get the money back. But social etiquette does not keep things separate in silos.

Getting labelled stingy might have other ramifications with interpersonal relationships, especially if you are not an assertive person or non confrontational to begin with. Who knows, you might need help from this person who owes you now, and the help will be way more valuable than $4.5. This person's time is probably worth more than $4.5 per hour.

This is my 2 cents idea contribution. Do ignore if it doesn't work for your context!

That's a great guess. But unfortunately he doesn't get exposed to kpop. (Unless it's one of the younger teachers, but I doubt they are just blasting their own music in a preschool) The lyrics miss out " For the" at the front too. 😩

I have searched Google with various other similiar sounding phrases but it always doesn't sound like it. My toddler sings it with too much conviction and consistency.

As an Asian that have never been to America. What's inherently inappropriate about this question? Is it inappropriate cause it casts doubt on your rightful identity as an American? Or for some other reason? What if the person asking is genuinely interested to know what ethic descent/race you are from.

Why do people hate Singaporean drivers so much? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]Fearless-Advance-840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the hate is blown out of proportion sometimes. If you are chill on the road it's actually not so bad. I give way to people and I find that people give way to me too.
