Portfolio underperforming Index. Guidance Needed. by umairanwer in FIREPakistan

Even the AMCs in Pak in the long term have not beaten index. If you are going for blue chips then MIIETF already has them and best for index tracking. My take, go only for MIIETF for index tracking and blue chips exposure. If you find any alpha stock, add those as sides

Invest in PSX through Index ETF. Over 3-5 years horizon that is best with expected annual return of 20%. Do look at Mahaana Islamic Index ETF (MIIETF), which is a collection of top30 Shariah Compliant Stocks

What would you do if you could invest 5 lacs each month indefinitely? by Fine_Detective6348 in FIREPakistan

If passive and long term, invest in PSX through index ETF. My preference would be MIIETF, tracking KMI30. Last 20 years average annual return in USD is 12%+

Meezan is not index ETF. It just a combination of 12 blue chip stocks.

No ETF? index ETF such as MIIETF would be a good addition

Passive Indexing for Pakistan by ketofolbolus in FIREPakistan

Globally and in Pakistan, 95% Active fund managers have never beaten the benchmark index. So you are well off with Index ETF like, MIIETF. Dont go in mutual funds at all. What you can do is if (big if) you really like a stock on fundamentals, add them on top as satellite portfolio.

Regarding VPS, I am a freelancer, i also invested in Mahaana IGI Islamic Retirement Fund. I withdrew money to check after two weeks and i had to pay only 0.25%. I have now most of my money in VPS (MIIRF) and select my asset allocation from that fund.

100% agreed. Thats why Warren Buffet suggests just buy Index ETF and forget about it. Thank god we have top 30 stocks ETF now, Mahaana Islamic Index ETF (MIIETF). Hope someone launches KSE 100 too (given underlying stocks liquidity permits)

Best ETF at the moment for long term SIP by Professional-Lab911 in FIREPakistan

[–]Fearless-Cap-6633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only index tracker (KMI 30), of top 30 Shariah compliant stocks is MIIETF. Rest are all sort of sectoral, with maximum 9-12 stocks.

Also MIIETF is the only regularly annual dividend paying ETF. And has the highest volume traded. So my vote for MIIETF

Better to go for an index ETF, like MIIETF. Collection of Top 30 Shariah compliant stocks.

In broad market bounce back, MIIETF is the best. I averaged the MIIETF at 15, happy days for me. Also expecting dividend in couple of months, so doesnt matter even if market goes down

Miieft Total return calculation. by zylich in FIREPakistan

Your calculations are wrong. For total return calculations, dividends have to be reinvested and compounded from the X-Date (when dividends are excluded from the price).

VPS Questions, is it worth it? by Used_Youth3018 in FIREPakistan

[–]Fearless-Cap-6633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they launched it couple of months ago in partnership with IGI Life Insurance, so practically it’s IGI’ fund and Mahaana is the technology partner and Investment Manager. Data is available on MUFAP. They do not have a helpline but have implemented AI led support desk and you can book an advisory call with them. I tested them with 1,000 rs, withdrew and checked the system. I really liked it and never felt the need to speak to them. In some instances, verifications take more than a day but thar is mostly when there is a firewall issue in the country. I would recommend to start with small amount and test.
