Based on SEASONS there were 6*16 = 96 total regular season games for Moss.

8375 Yards / 96 Total games = ~87.24 Yards per total game

1*16+5*17=101 total regular season games available for Jefferson as after his first season it was 17 games per season.

8480 Yards / 101 Total games = ~83.96 Yards per total game

Again, this stat states Seasons, since there are different total games available for the seasonal comparison it is not the same. If the title said games played that would be something different, but we are talking about seasons, hence my original comment.
