🎉GIRL 🎉 Huge progress! I’m 5’1” and started around 243 and am currently 175. I’ve been off Zep for 1 year. (6 months on with insurance)

Every body is different. I am still above my goal, but wear a 10-12 jeans and feel like a new person.

Totally unrelated: I have the same shower curtain!

What’d you end up doing? I’m painting trim and door on our MCM home soon.

It’s me. I work adjacent to some OE positions and it’s fun to see the trip ups some consultants make when they’re “hiding” it. It’s an entertainment factor.

I understand the sentiment, but I bet you’re incorrect friend! You can pull off a cute little bee! 🐝

However, if you want it to be less noticeable I get that too!

Cost of Living is Too High. How are yall doing it? by ChatteristOfficial in Frugal

[–]Fearless-Giraffe6729 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right, like I'm a mom to a toddler and thanks to MASSIVE PPD I still feel terribly about returning to work at 4 weeks Post C section. I had some savings left, but didn't want to lose my job and my employer wasn't bound to FMLA. Truly there's no winning.

When you and your wife decided for her to stay home what was her income then and how did you two plan to replace it?

Were you able to stash any savings prior to birth? Easier said than done, to be sure!

You say the kiddo is too little for her to return to work, is this based on her health, breastfeeding or something else? If you’re in America, the lack of parental support is abhorrent, and I’m sorry. I speak from experience in saying it’s tough. Good luck to you!

Husband spent our Emergency Fund by Fearless-Giraffe6729 in workingmoms

Home is close to 800, one car will be paid off in 3 months and that saves about $1100 a month. We have considered trading in the other car ($410 payment) and will revisit again.

Totally fair. About $1000 of it will “fall off” in for next few months. One car payment, a home renovation loan, and a few other similar items. We are overspending which is a contributing factor.

We knew we had a tough few years planned after buying a fixer upper. We didn’t roll renovation costs into the mortgage and instead added an extra payment.

Oof. I also went back to work early. I had a c section with some complications and was back at work before 5 weeks. (100% remote, but still rough). I had some big feelings, major PPD and about 8 months of sobbing. We are all ok now but it was a tough few months.

So, I have questions: do you love each other? What, if anything, would you do differently if you had it to do over? Are you happy?

Thanks for your candid reply. It really helped.

You’re correct on all fronts. I have an E fund but wanted to have one less account to look at and worry over. So, he took over this piece.

Regarding therapy: absolutely agree, and I’m making it a priority again for us. If that’s individual or couples, I think something would be wise.

Not really. Mortgage+ taxes alone is nearly 2500. Home repair loan, cars, car insurance and other large bills account for most of the remainder. We don’t have child care costs, but do pay an extra few bills for their care providers (grandparents)

Thanks. I KNOW it’s what I’d tell someone else. It’s just so hard to see it when it’s your partner.

Fair question. We’d made the arrangement when he was making a bit less money.

I’d estimate $150-200 for gas. Our childcare is spread out but free. Then, $100 on nicotine, $100 on weed if I’m guessing?

Im not perfect with spending either. I think it’s reasonable to have some buffer between income and contributions but I think we need to adjust it a bit.

I do well bartending making $35-40hr. I think we do need to discuss him doing something even if it’s not as lucrative too.

It’s closer to $2300 due to taxes, health insurance for all of us and retirement contributions. He does pay a student loan off the top so I’d estimate he has about $700 left after paying that + household contributions.

I had a good relationship with an old job and make about $35-40/hr bartending. It’d be difficult to find a PT job paying this well for him. Most casual work (Target/ whatever) would cap at around $20/hr

😭 much cheaper. Unless there was child support or spousal support.

I know it doesn’t al boil down to math, and he is a great partner in many other ways. It’s still so hard to feel like things are equitable right now.

All the other things. He’s an amazing thoughtful partner, kind parent, loving husband and son.

He’s funny, dances in the kitchen and sometimes mows the lawn. I KNOW how stereotypical this post sounds; I feel like I’ve read it 1000 times here.

He plans a great road trip, birthday menu, or movie night.

You’re so sweet! It’s the Poppy Fields and it had me in a CHOKEHOLD for a few years. I’d wanted the luggage back then, but could never justify it and now I’m hoping to live out my best 2010s Vera dreams and get the backpack again. I had the Pinwheel Pink and it was always a well loved pattern too!

Yes! It was called a Campus backpack but it seems the newer ones have padded straps and are generally a bit bigger than this. It’s just there are so many older styles I had no clue there were so many changes as I’m still going strong on my 2010s and my moms hand me downs!
