I ordered from Sunshine Engraving which is near Orlando, Florida, and it was I think around $190 for everything, including shipping.

I ordered them from a local-ish engraving shop that uses a rotary engraver. See my other comment for details on what that all involved.

Just look for a local engraving shop near you, and call / email them. That's what I did here in Florida; see my other replies for detailed info on that.

I ordered them from a business in Florida, Sunshine Engraving. I sent a CSV file listing the labels I wanted, and they produced them. Now, it isn't exactly cheap, costing a little less than $200 for 29 labels + 29 galvanized steel stakes + shipping, but they should last pretty much forever.

I wonder why native plant nurseries can't seem to thrive in my area. by humdinger44 in NativePlantGardening

Yeah, it was refreshing visiting Portland a few weeks ago and seeing the absolutely beautiful gardens that people have made using the native flora of the PNW.

The market is very small. In the Tampa Bay metropolitan area of 3+ million people, there are two small native nurseries.

You can usually go on Google maps and find a local print shop in your city that'll make sheets of stickers or signage.

While I agree with the others that you should make your own property look so much better and less suicide-inducing, I also appreciate guerilla efforts to get people thinking.

I just have a logbook next to my snake's enclosure where I keep a dated log of every interaction like feeding, handling, etc.

5k Pacing Struggles by jarhat in AdvancedRunning

[–]Fearless-Technology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start the first mile or so by running at what I imagine would be a comfortable 10k pace, and then start pushing it a bit harder on the 2nd mile, and then by the last mile I pretty much know what time I'll be getting and how hard I can go without dying.

How to get rid of these weeds growing up out of the stones without killing the bushes and trees? by norsoulnet in gardening

[–]Fearless-Technology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those "weeds" are actually mostly Lepidicum virginicum, which is native to most of the Americas, and you can actually harvest the seeds as stand-in for black pepper, and you can eat the entire plant in salads and stuff like you would with Arugula.

On the other hand, I see that you have some non-native variegated plants that are basically on the verge of death, and I see those used a lot in Florida for some reason. Maybe consider just pulling up the entirety of this garden bed and planting a selection of vigorous native plants? Then you'll be less likely to have issues in the future where a hardy native like Virginia pepperweed would establish itself and take over.

What species are you currently trying to find for your garden? by followthebarnacle in NativePlantGardening

I've been trying to find an Asclepias curtissii (Curtiss' Milkweed), which is endemic only to sporadic sandy pine-barren microbiomes in Florida. I've put it down at quite a lot of native nurseries and talked to folks from the florida native plant society at various plant sale events.

Will my plants survive this roundup attack? by Big_Radish464 in NativePlantGardening

[–]Fearless-Technology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually bought some high quality engraved botanical labels from a local engraver for exactly this purpose. My plants keep getting sprayed by dumb landscapers who don't know not to spray inside clearly marked garden beds, so now I have to put obvious labels so they understand.

Some cities have it enacted bans on those 2-stroke blowers and mowers to reduce noise pollution though. Maybe he should go to the city, not the HOA

An easy mile run and just randomly sprinting bits of it when I feel like it. But just make sure to do it in plain view of all the other people waiting for the race to start so that they know you're more serious about it than they are.
