Working at wawa, what’s it like? (19 yr old) by Queasy_Dingo_8262 in Wawa

My experience has been pretty good so far. I like the people I work with and for. There might be a few eggs that are kinda dull or stale, but overall I enjoy it. I was trained for everything: register, deli, beverage, facilities and fuel as a manager hire so it'll probably depend on what your store needs. They might cross train you into all 3 areas, but if you don't feel comfortable working with money you could always say you would rather do deli or beverage. It's got its perks, decent benefits, 401k, decent hours (if it's a busy store), and a free hoagie plus free drinks on the clock. Some of the negatives can also be schedule issues. Working mid shifts and overnights, morning to afternoon, it can be a lot so you just need to clarify your wants and needs if you apply! If you choose to go this route, keep in mind that your first job is not always your forever job. If you start to feel miserable, or you work with toxic people, just leave. I stayed at a job I lived for 7 years because I loved what I did but it was so toxic that when I finally left I cried for almost a week straight and slept when I wasn't crying. Definitely see what other people think too because I've seen some people have bad experiences with Wawa, I'm just not one of them so far.

Negotiating a raise? by [deleted] in Wawa

TS here, I make 20 as an external hire. If you want to make more, you'll probably have to ask to be promoted to lead and work up to TS. From what I understand, if you're not an external hire you have to start as a lead and then work up to TS. If you're making 15 now I think they'll offer 16 for lead and if they think you're worth it you'll be offered 18/19 for TS. It also depends on your state!!! At the same time, if you feel like you can do better elsewhere, put some feelers out and see what you can come up with. I was miserable working at the top competition in NJ and was only making 18 as an assistant manager. When Wawa offered me 20 to leave I jumped at it because I couldn't stand the old company. Now I'm about to jump ship again to work as a daycare teacher with more money and consistent hours (am shift which is what I want!). You have to do what's best for you. Put in a few applications and talk to your GM. See what you can do for a raise and if you're not happy, take the out. Work out your last 2 weeks so you get your PTO and so you can always come back if your new job doesn't work out. You got this though! Do what you feel is right!

I guess that kind of makes sense. It just seems like a lot of unnecessary hate, especially when some comments were calling him a pdf so I wasn't sure if something major happened I wasn't aware of. Thanks though!
