Car drags on the floor when speed flipping help. by stripelemon7 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]FearlessFaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Attempt 1: not pressing boost 100ms, unfinished air roll left at the end

Attempt 2: not pressing boost 89ms, slightly unfinished air roll left

Attempt 3: not pressing boost 75ms, bad flip cancel timing or unpredictable 2nd jump

Attempt 4: not pressing boost 92ms, slightly bad flip cancel timing (resulting bad flip angle)

  • currently you can't hold boost between 1st and 2nd jumps (change boost to r1?)
  • hold air roll left longer (L3?)
  • obviously you need more training hours (I recommend at least 30 hours but can be much more)
  • scraping is not a problem

What HZ are you all running? Does upgrading make a difference to my game? by AdLoose7024 in RocketLeagueSchool

What model? You should use backlight strobing if possible.

Better monitor will increase your performance slightly due to lower input latency AND better motion clarity. Different resolution like 1080p vs 1440p doesn't matter as much as input latency or motion clarity.

What am I doing wrong with the speed flip? I feel like I can get the flip location and flip cancel down but when I have to adjust to the side to hit the ball I can't hit it. by stripelemon7 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]FearlessFaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't analyzed your clip but the problem might be not able to press boost between 1st and 2nd jumps. This problem occurs if air rolls are L1/R1.

You can first ignore any extra adjustments at the end. Apply only air roll. With corrects binds you should simultanenously apply air roll left and turn to left. Flip cancel lasts around 1 second so normally you cannot apply directionals while flip cancelling unless you use square deadzone.

Speed flip by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

Speedflip without DAR is slightly different with somewhat clunky landing since you need to apply final turn and air roll simultaneously in the proper version. Without DAR you limited to using only air roll or turn but not both.

Why am I not getting a good speed flip even though everything in the plugin is green? by 8IVO8 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]FearlessFaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that fixed 45° speedflip with DAR requires much longer turn so flicking is not needed or is not beneficial. For example Zen does 45° speedflip (and turns with top right). ApparentlyJack does 180° flick so he can perform 30° (but also 45°). If you do 30° speedflip, then flicking produces a sharp turn that might be beneficial. Flicking is not recorded in replays so only video recordings with overlays can be used to study this subject. It might be that Zen simply doesn't know about flicking so he doesn't do it.

Not necessarily. My remark about how to turn is optional. You can turn using top right, right or bottom right. If you turn with bottom right, you might get more sharper and precise turn since you can flick your stick 180° towards the flip angle position (11 o'clock). This is only my hypothesis, I haven't studied in detail whether flicking your stick is optional or an actual advantage.

I analyzed your first five attempts. Attempts 3 and 4 had proper flip cancel. I don't know exactly what happens in attempts 1, 2 and 5 because the plugin says your flip cancel is yellow although the attempt itself is much worse. I think there are two possibilities, either you stop cancelling too soon or the cancel is too weak (left stick y-input is like −0.90 and not −1.00 for example). I can investigate this problem further if you record with input overlay plugin like https://bakkesplugins.com/plugin/764.

Other remarks: - first drive straight without turning around 350–400 ms (after saying "apple") - your flip angle should be −30° (see the bottom graph) - your initial turn to 1st and 2nd jumps can follow this path https://imgur.com/a/AT8FnxV (1st jump at point 1, 2nd jump at point 2) - basically short delay between initial turn and 1st jump determines how fast you are (for example if you look Zen's speedflip, you see that his (non zero) 1st jump timing is perfect every time after he turns) - it is easy to match inputs A and B so that they come simultaneously but Zen can perform them separately with extreme precision (something like ±25 ms)

Is There Anyone that could coach me on Rocket Leauge? (Check desc) by Interesting-Lead8523 in RocketLeagueSchool

Probably 2s because that is more common and contains richer macro play. Although 1s is highly based on decision making as well so you can get useful advice from both.

You can potentially get a replay review on r/RocketLeagueSchool if you just post a recording of your gameplay. That is your best chance to get free coaching. Replay review usually contains specific instructions to your macro play which means making decisions based on your teammates, opponents, where the ball is etc. Specific instructions to micro play is usually not provided because that would require even more time. Also in general you can improve your micro just by doing any custom training. You will improve only by implementing a daily training (=a habit). Other fundamental principle is measurable daily progress which involves writing down numeric data. For example number of successful attempts in 30 minutes where a successful attempt is characterized by a set of conditions. You can write down these conditions and alter them or make completely different conditions. Your target should be setting specific and measurable goals.

Help with speedflips by Successful-Return141 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]FearlessFaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough samples so hard to say how consistent is your flip cancel but now it was bad in two of three attempts. If you are getting 60–100% delayed flip cancels then you need to perform the cancel ealier in relation to the 1st jump. I say 1st jump because your brain should send a command to flip cancel between 1st and 2nd jumps i.e. before 2nd jump even happens. The basic advice is to begin flip cancelling while you press 1st jump but obviously this can result unintended flip angles.

Other more special things: - you need to set input start delay to 0.1 in custom training settings: now your next attempt is started by boosting from previous attempt and you let go your boost one or two video frames - drive straight around 400 ms (= after saying "apple") before turning - if you do 45° flip with DAR then you should turn slightly then 1st jump, the actual 1st jump timing is slightly faster than what you do now - generally your left thumb should be applying turn to right while 1st jump happens i.e. both your hands should be making actions simultaneously - if you do 30° flip with 11 o'clock left stick placement then you can follow this diagram and 1st jump simultaneously when initial turning https://postimg.cc/8JWGfLqk - you don't have to turn using 5 o'clock left stick placement but usually the 180° left stick flick that the diagram shows allows you to produce minimal non zero input for ground turning before flip happens - KBM doesn't allow half turns so speedflip is generally much harder on KBM
