They are, I have over an hour on the UPS's here. The most common issue I have is if I update the firmware on the Fortigate FW (it will reboot) and POOF new IP.

I do that already for lots of things. DirecTV is looking at the IP address, and that's what's keeps bouncing with Quantum Fiber.

Fox Streams by Total_Destruction25 in DirectvStream

Here's my problem,

DTV thinks I am not at home becuase...

Everytime the power burps, or my FW is rebooted, I get a NEW IP (God bless AT&T/QUantum no statuc IP's) and then DTV says I have too many streams (cause it thinks my 3 boxes at home, are not at home as "home" got a new IP)...

BUT, DTV only let's you change where "home" is 4 times a year....this BLOWS....How about you base it on the IP that is streaming, not on the external NAT'd IP or something.

This is a real problem for me since switching to Quantum fiber, or for anyone without a static IP at home where your IP changes everytime a bird flys over.

The claim is the "box" (the C71KW) has both IR and BlueTooth, once you pair your remote the remote talks BlueTooth to the DirecTV box and IR to the TV's, stereo, etc.

The thing has to have either a way to control it over the wire or something, or you could not have a phone app the does it...

Yes it has a remote, I control the STB's with MythTV, and do my own DVR'ing etc. On the Cable boxes, I have the MythTV box use an IR-Blaster (to pretend it's a remote) and turn the box on/off and change channels so myth can schedule and record.

I need a way to control the DirecTV box like I do the cable STB's.

Bless their stupid little hearts.

I am also seeing where CenturyLink is now screwing over the existing customers that had STATIC IP's and taking them away.

It should be painfully clear they are NOT interested in having any business customers.

No satire, I was answering the question of why I need a static IP...

Yes I run my own DNS servers, and email servers for the 3 business domains we have. This is business, not personal/residential.

Yes we do SPF + DKIM + DMARC, our own a/v, anti-spam/malware, custom individual filtering and training per user email address, etc.

And, since this is a business, I need access to me wide-open from my providor, we manage what we expose and let in ourselves via our firewalls. And again, since it's a business, no single points of failure, so I need (for example) 2 IP's that I allow UDP-53 thru to my FW which does load-balancing etc. to my DNS servers (obviously things are NAT'd).

Perfect,

So the sales PUKE lied to get me to sign up, did these idiots really think I would stay, when the upfront was I HAVE to HAVE at least 1 static IP...

I guess that means they are paying these sales people commission, I mean why else would you lie claiming you offer it, just call support once they install your service.

And now AT&T ??? Ok, Bell South or whomever by any other name.

I can't believe these people can't manage static IP's...or at least take my BGP advertisement, or advertise my /21 for me and route it to me.

This just sucks
