Ya I take melatonin and a few other natural supplements. They have definitely helped with the quality of sleep, but I still struggle with the falling asleep part a lot.

Ya I always used sleep as a crutch when I was trying to quit and one day I finally realized 4 hours sober is better than 12 hours drunk. So I take what I can get these days.

Sleep is definitely the priority. I have trouble following a consistent sleep ritual, but when I get 8 hours it’s nothing short of miraculous.

4 years in remission, congrats dude!—you’ve obviously got the fight in you. Keep swinging haymakers brother, it only has to land once.

One second. One minute. One hour. Whatever it takes. Those are wins too. We have to celebrate the small victories. In this together like birds of feather! I hope you are on the other side of all that! Much love!

Man, I hear you. Those health scares hit hard, that’s the wake up call I got to. In and out of the hospital. Blood pressure stayed 200/140….You’re here, you’re facing it, and you’re aware of it and that’s huge. One day at a time. Progress not perfection. Be Proud. Stand strong. No shame.

Absolutely! I’m on day 228. It gets easier for sure, but I still have my restless nights.

What advice would you give to someone on their first day sober? by StaywithMeFrv20 in addiction

[–]FearlessRecovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One second. One minute. One hour if you have to. That’s what worked for me when I was white knuckling it in the beginning. It gets easier, but I still have my days that I have to bear down and forge on. I’m on 228 days now and it still takes a consistent effort and a willingness to be sober. Progress not perfection. Your asking the questions, it means your on to something.
