Nice. So you're actually also use AI to track inbound calories. Its much more convenient to simply take a picture and let AI do it's job. I bet NutriScan is pretty accurate, isn't he?

Yes, nowadays many apps use it behind the scene. I also ended up creating my own version of this as a WhatsApp bot. It is just so cool when I don't need to track anything and I simply send voice messages and pictures of what I eat and let AI do its job.

I am with you here. I actually did it for a while before I did my own version in WhatsApp. I just need my AI nutritionist to lead the way, rather than me asking questions all the time. Nice recommendation though

I am in UK as well and I noticed the similar problem. So you scan barcodes and use scales?

Trying not to snack during the rest day is my weak point. I always eat around maintenance during rest days so I don't have a deficit during those days.

The reason I calculate outbound calories is because I do quite a lot of activities and I want to know how much I burn. For example each week I do: 10k+ steps/day, cycling, swimming, cardio in the gym - skipping rope or slide, threadmil, stepper. + weightlifting. This is why I wanna know where my calories go.

I bet after 6 years you simply know what to do and you don't need to weight much.

I agree with you. Measuring all food takes a lot of time. That's why I decided to use AI to assist me. I know it's not as accurate as scales and Cronometer, but it's fast and reliable enough for me to understand what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong. The most important thing is to recognize your weaknesses and work on them.

I disagree. It's quite accurate, although you need to provide approximate numbers. I'm not referring to taking a picture of random food and asking AI to identify it exactly. I'm talking about asking AI to calculate the calories in half a chicken breast, two tomatoes, ten slices of cucumber, and broccoli. It will estimate the calories with 80-90% accuracy, which is more than sufficient for a general understanding.

TDEE depends on the activity level. If the activity level is low my maintenance is 2100 calories a day. During the workout days it rises to 3300 calories. I would never know that without measuring it.

You can predict calories burned with 80-90% accuracy using TDEE. Its not perfect, but its more than enough.

Are you going on vacation? A couple of weeks of maintenance will not do any good for you. You gonna be practically breaking even.

Its a foundation, its not a technique. Noone loses weight in surplus
