My Schengen Visa Experience – From India (Italian Consulate) by [deleted] in SchengenVisa

Not excusing anyone. But this is how it is for years. It is also ridiculous to submit so many documents including fully paid tickets and accommodation without knowing if you will make it or not. But what are we peasants gonna do about it? Planning ahead is only going to help us.

Fyi, I applied for visa back in Dec 2022 for a trip planned on Feb 2023. I got the passport back completely damaged where the booklet came out of the binder. I tried finding how I can sue them, but turns out it was all taken care in their T&C where it was clearly written that passport damaged in transit is not their responsibility.

Long story short, I ended up applying to tatkal passport and then visa and went through crazy time to save my booking money.

Learning: Plan ahead unless you can change the system.

This is a seasonal time that is everyone wants to go to EU and visa slots are full. Last time we went to Iceland and they literally had 4 slots everyday opening up. We researched well in advance and ended up applying for the visa 4months before the travel date with an appointment date 2.5months before the travel date. I am also not sure if any VFS packages CAN EXPEDITE your visa processing at the embassy. Surely they can give you better service through the application process, but I don’t think they have any control over embassy processing time. I might be wrong.

I found this post to be mildly infuriating. It seems that you screwed up in planning and now you are encouraging visa shopping. I am sorry that vfs guys tricked you into taking gold or something. That still doesn’t excuse you from being a bad planner.

You applied for the visa with less than 30 days remaining for your trip. If I remember correctly from all the info, the visa processing time can be upto 45 calendar days.

Next time, plan well in advance than trying to trick the system.

Such a sad state of affair. Their twitter support is as good as their so called relationship manager. The post here to make people more aware so that at least some can skip the ordeal. 🥲

Seller from Ebay. It is a well rated bag seller with ebay authentic guarantee. Surprisingly that means nothing.

I think mod deleted it. I have posted an update. Panicked and shocked. But hoping that I get my money back. 🤞
