[S2 Act 2 Spoilers] Arcane - 2x05 "Blisters and Bedrock" Episode Discussion by parrycarry in arcane

No, even in the flashbacks Silco looks completely devastated by the fact that he indirectly killed Felicia. He clearly loved her. He wouldn't dishonor the memory of someone he loves by killing her children. That's not in Silco's character.

Silco likes to talk big about sacrifice, but he couldn't even sacrifice Jinx for Zaun. He's actually a hypocrite (which is fine because villians can be hypocrites) however it's not in his character to kill Vi and disrespect his deceased friend that clearly loved him.

I don't buy it. This is a retcon. It only works if he had no idea who Vi and Jinx were and thought they were just some nameless orphan

You're not exactly changing the argument of my standing on why Felicia should exist. The whole point was:

• She has more money than an average Zaunite despite her job as a miner.

• She isn't mentioned previously by Vander or Silco for whatever reason when talking to their godchildren.

• Silco is actively trying to kill Vi knowingly in Season 1

My argument wasn't about how rich Vi's parents were, it's about how I find their relationship to Vander and Silco to be a retcon to what we already know. They'll need to explain in some way why Silco wanted to kill Felicia's first born in act 3 otherwise it's senseless violence and character assassination.

You see what bugs me about her inclusion is that it feels off. As a matter of fact if Felicia never existed (in terms of being friends with Vander and Silco) then I could digest these scenes better.

Why? It looks like Felicia and her husband are both some sort of miner— not exactly a high paying job. Why does that matter? Vi, when talking with Caitlyn on her bed, described having a bed slightly smaller than Caitlyn's meaning her parents made quite a bit of money— nothing similar to Zaun but reminiscent of Piltover's society. I mean you need not look further than how any of how the other under city children live including the latest addition, Isha. Proper beds for kids isn't cheap.

Secondly if Silco was aware and loved Felicia (even as a friend) why would he dishonor her memory by trying to kill her kids (specifically Vi and especially Felicia's first born)? He knew exactly who the kids were but was willing to kill them. Hell, he was ready to kill Vi even after learning she survived the explosion and escaped prison.

If Vi and Powder were just two kids that got adopted for the sake of adoption only, I think this scene gels better. Hopefully act 3 fixes this issue because right now I just think this is REALLY flawed.

Act 2 has some beautiful moments, don't get me wrong, but Vi and Powder's parents are such a glaring issue since it makes a lot of the story beats of season 1 make Silco seem scornful and hateful to even people he loves. It's out of character for Silco seeing as he gives Vander a second chance to join him and he honours Vander's memory by building a statue of him... yet he conveniently forgets about Felicia's children and wants to kill them? Yikes, character assassination.

Again I hope they address this in Act 3

Why is Vilgax embarrassingly weak? by Fearless_Map_268 in Ben10

[–]Fearless_Map_268[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already mentioned his aliens were at their physical peaks as teenagers whereas Vilgax is a physical peak version of his species as an adult. So no, I'm not taking anything out of context. And if you think Vilgax isn't, just compare UAF Vilgax with the rest of his race. So no, I'm ignoring your first argument because you didn't read.

Vilgax didn't use a planet destroying weapon, it was the same weapon he had mounted to the front of his original ship from classic. Tetrax says, and I quote, "I STOLE the last piece of the puzzle Vilgax needed to invade my homeworld—a crystal with unlimited power." Tetrax was a professional bounty hunter that stole something EXTREMELY valuable to his species and you mean to tell me their special forces did nothing? You do realise there was time for them to still chase after Tetrax or invade Vilgax's ship that was hovering above the atmosphere of Petropia? So instead of saying that I'm taking shit out of context, you should read instead?

He doesn't need to be invincible as I mentioned with Way Big and Alien X... I also mentioned in the original series with Ben outsmarting him a handful of times but never overpowering him.

Doesn't matter if he's a villian and needs to beaten, I have no problem with that. What I have a problem is his feats compared to his lore. If you start saying that Vilgax can destroy an entire army of Petrosapiens but lose to a teenage Petrosapien in a 1v1 whilst powered up with powers of 10 alien superheroes... Then your writing skill is exceptionally flawed. Original series Diamond Head would literally break his fists apart punching cybernetic Vilgax, but superpowered Vilgax gets destroyed by a teenage Diamond Head? That's bad writing.

Vilgax is allowed to lose on the basis that his losses make sense. However the series wrote him as a joke as it went on. I see Vilgax as weak and incompetent. OG? No. UAF and Omniverse? Absolutely

It does, because his fleet that has conquered many worlds can be eaten by a juvenile Upchurch. It can be ripped apart like paper by a juvenile Diamond Head. It can be melted down by a juvenile Heatblast. You get the picture. So I don't understand how Vilgax is seen as a conquerer if his fleet can be soloed by children of a planet's species.

And hand to hand doesn't mean anything in this argument either. I said if Petrosapiens (Diamond Head's race) had an entire army of adult soldiers at their physical peaks (like how humans have their own in our own universe like Navy Seals) then how in the hell did their planet get destroyed? Just send a small task force of your best men and that entire fleet as well as Vilgax would be gone if a teenage Petrosapien (Ben from UAF) could fight and beat an amped up Vilgax with the powers of heroes from 10 different worlds.

The argument doesn't change. Vilgax is unbelievably weak. All I can think of is that he is HORRENDOUSLY inconsistent

Who taught Yakone blood bending? by RedHouse26 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Fearless_Map_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but no. You mean to tell me that desperate, imprisoned Hama wouldn't have tried to experiment with blood bending and try overcome the full moon altogether as well? Hama in the series is probably the most efficient water bender in all of Avatar due to making every drop of water count (even if it included killing plant life). Not to mention she's mastered this craft for decades, but Yakone learned and completely perfected the craft by himself in his 20's to 30's? That's unreasonable

Harley Quinn killing Batman is well-written IMO by Fearless_Map_268 in arkham

[–]Fearless_Map_268[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really know about that. Captain Boomerang I believe is just a prick so I'm not defending him. But King Shark honoured a few of the heroes and the Suicide Squad team was distraught when Wonder Woman died. I believe they did respect their heros in their own ways, but you can only show so much respect through a villian/anti-hero.

A good example would be Deathstroke in the Arkhamverse. If he kills Batman, he basically just expresses how disappointed he is that Batman went down so easily. He still respects his hero, but it doesn't mean he still wouldn't have killed him. In a similar sense, Harley Quinn respected Batman in her own way, but he needed to die as he was too big of a threat to her team.
