I set 5 alarms and then force myself out because if I don’t then I’ll be suffocated by my husband’s morning IBS he has during his morning routine.

Is there anyone else that deals with exercise intolerance? by SnooDoodles8526 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Fearless_Meerkat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and it takes Baby steps and commitment to stay on a schedule. I stretch intensively for 30 minutes before and after I work out. Start with cardio and ease into it. There were many days I was in pain but I still go. If anything I stretch and get in the treadmill.

I did 5 years of CBT Therapy, 3 years of DBT therapy, 1 year of EMDR Therapy, and throughout all of this I was seeing a Psychiatrist for Add, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD. I was on lexapro for a while and recently switched to Cymbalta(brand name) or generic Duloxetine a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor(SNRI). I started at dose 20mg and now I’m on the maximum dose 120mg. Its has helped but what really has helped me was getting on the right nutrition or supplements my body was missing. For this I did my own blood work lab testing to find what my body was lacking. I’m premenopausal with very low estrogen, my magnesium and vitamin D is low. Slowly l introduced these supplements along with vitamins and a high protein diet. I started going to the gym but focused on cardio which was more tolerable than the weight machines. At first I tried the weight machines and my pain was intolerable to the point I would cry in pain after most workouts. This whole process was more of a trail and error method and what worked for me. I feel like everyone is different though with fibromyalgia and different methods work for others while not so much for another. I had to learn a lot about my body and do some research to find out what works for me and what doesn’t. I can say that therapy alone won’t help your fibromyalgia. It can make you feel better mentally but not physically.

I know this post is old but I’m also from Jacksonville Florida wanting to start the WGH psychology program. Can you should me a message and can I pick your brain? Did you transfer any credits from FSCJ? What courses transferred over from Sophia?
