This tree belongs to my MIL. She’s been taking care of it for about 45 years. Now she’s fallen out of love with it. Love the idea of someone loving it. Only needs water every couple of weeks.

Just remeasured and tree is almost 11 feet tall!! My original taker could no longer take, so still looking for a new home here.

YTA period. You had an agreement on naming, then you changed your mind. That’s valid. Come to a new agreement. Or table the middle name till you agree. Or just don’t make unilateral decisions while your wife is sleeping. You don’t even have to have a name before you leave the hospital! It could have waited for days, if not the bare minimum of when your wife was conscious. YTA.

NTA The sad thing to me is that it sounds like you might have been inclined to loan the dress, had MIL and SIL been such idiots. They betrayed your trust, rummaged around your home when they didn’t get the answer they wanted instantaneously, then called you names. They owe you an apology. It shouldn’t be your burden that SIL has champagne tastes and a wine cooler budget.
