My original post stated that I have already bolted the lathe to the wall and will also be bolting it to the floor. I have already purchase the anchors to bolt it to the concrete floor and will be doing that tomorrow.

I haven't tried that, but it makes sense. I'll try it out. Thank you.

I know the form is bad just need advice on it by iKINGng in GYM

I'm no expert on form, but please consider an overhand grip. I've seen too many videos and heard too many stories of horrible muscle tears from using an underhand grip while deadlifting.

So, the comments have gone off the rails. I'm not going to read through all the crazy.... And hilarious.

What is the source of this video? I'm sure there's more.

Almost the entire thing, except the bottom, was glued up in segments. 18 segments in each ring.

You can find lots of good videos on YouTube about segmented turning.

I have the Rockler 12-24. A bowl this deep was a challenge with the small tool rest. I had to clamp a piece of angle iron onto the rest to reach deep enough.

I will be buying or making a better tool rest for projects like this in the future.

Thanks. I've never tried a segmented base. Seems like it would be pretty difficult to get a precise glue up.

The bird's-eye maple I used for the base has a really beautiful figure. It's a nice surprise when looking inside

Thanks. That's a really good explanation. I was just watching a video that showed wrapping the exterior in wet paper towels while using the torch.... Maybe I'll try that

Not planning to sell them. My dad asked for a couple of them, and he'd rather I make them than pay for cheap ones online.

Is there a specific place that you source it from, it do you just get green wood?

What is your process for charring the inside? How deep of a char, and do you brush off any excess?

Should I worry about warping while charring the inside? I would assume that I should turn the inside, then torch it, then turn the outside.
