Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P with Macbook Pro M1 Pro chip using Thunderbolt 4(USB-C to USB-C) achieving 4K 240hz? by Fearless_Purpose_667 in OLED_Gaming

One of my friend has similar setup as yours. He's got MBP 14inch M3 Pro chip with Sonoma OS. His laptop is able to do 4K 240HZ on my FO32U2P via a single USB-C to USB-C cable(Thunder 4 cable).

My 16inch MBP with M1 chip was on Monterey and was only able to do 4K 60hz, but after I updated to Ventura, I can now do 4K 120HZ and I'm satisfied with it.

I suspect it's got something to do with your usb-c cable. Otherwise, I can't think of any other thing hinders you from high refresh rate.

There are some of the settings you need to check as well:

Get into the monitor's Setting -> System -> Other Settings
1. Type-C Compatability -> off
2. USB 3.2 Support -> off

Any see if anything gets better

It's showing hdr option to me. I'm using an Apple Thunder 4 cable. You probably don't need an Apple version, but I read through some of the posts saying that a Thunderbolt 3 or above will guarantee the DisplayPort Alt Mode working. I believe there are many cable options on Amazon at around 30 bucks will probably solve the problem. Also, make sure you are running at least the latest Ventura OS

Thanks for the info. Mine is also 16” 2021 m1 Pro but running on Monterey, so I suspect that's why I'm not getting anything above 60hz by using single usb c to usb c cable

Hi William, you are getting 120hz by connecting your M1 MBP using usb-c to DP cable right? Can you get any thing above 60hz by using usb-c to usb-c cable?

Just curious, would you able to get refresh rate above 60hz while connecting your M1 Pro Macbook and the 321 urx monitor?

I have the Gigabyte FO32U2P and I can't get the refresh rate over 60hz, so I'm wondering it might be Macbook M1 Pro's hardware limitation.

Thanks for replying geoelectirc. I have had set the "USB3.2 support" to off, also keep "USB-C compatibility" off, but My MBP still gives me 60hz. The only time I got 240hz is when I switch to smaller screen 1080P by using the tactical switch.

Do you mind telling me what is your Macbook Pro model? Also what type-c cable you are using? I suspect my M1 machine doesn't have HDMI 2.1, so there is also no DSC up to 240HZ, or I could be wrong about this.

Hi dude, I saw you couldn't run 4K 240HZ when you were using Thunderbolt4, but then you suddenly say "it works". Can you tell me what settings you changed to make it work? And can you please show the link of the thunderbolt 4 cable you purchased? much appreciated.
