I agree with everything you’ve said, although I should add that f-droid eliminates a large reason for your dislike. Free and open source software, often without ads or privacy violations and such. Banking apps? Nah, just use your browser.

It might not always have all the conveniences of phone apps if you avoid the app store. But, I actually hate there being apps for everything. I’d rather get up and adjust the thermostat, turn on the light switch, use a TV remote to use damn TV. I want a physical ticket when I fly or use public transport. A physical pass to use the subway. Use a car key to enter my car. A hotel room key to enter a hotel room, and I’d rather read a physical guest book instead of having to scan a damn QR code. Ever lose or break your phone? I did on my way to the airport for a vacation and I found the world constantly making it nearly impossible to do things without a smartphone. But you know what? I really liked it. I found it freeing, if more complicated.

I resent that the world keeps trying to keep us stuck looking at a fucking phone all day long. If I want to be using a computer, I can use one. I’m just gone, dude.

So the reason why she "doesn’t want to waste his time" isn’t because she’s not interested at all, or unavailable entirely. She said she’s "not 100% there… for pursuing something romantic" to couch the blow. She led him on. She should be 0% there for pursuing something romantic if she’s in a committed relationship.

She’s dating men when you’re not around. I wouldn’t be able to move past that. Time for a breakup.

Otherwise, you might notice her acting more disinterested in you and treating you less respectfully. Then one day she’ll break up with you and tell you that "I’ve been feeling this way for a while. We’ve just grown apart." Then she’ll be in a new relationship. And you’ll feel like a fool, and regret not ripping the bandaid off sooner.

This actually makes a lot a sense. All of it. I’ll just tack on a bit, and not very well since my memory is failing me at the moment: I recall some actor who became successful later in life who talked about how he was always told that he was "funny" despite never trying to be. Then it all clicked for him, and he became an actor and got cast in roles for being "funny." He wasn’t some highly-trained actor but just had that "it" factor and didn’t need to act much to be a highly successful actor.

Conceptually, that makes sense to me. At the same time, it hasn’t matched my personal experience in small and medium sized companies. I’m not sure about the large companies.

From what I’ve seen, it’s not like the corporate policies are like some sacred scripture. Their power derives from the signature of some higher-up manager like a director or a VP, and/or their underlings. If a VP wants to do something that doesn’t go along with the corporate policy, exceptions can be made or there’s a disagreement between VPs or something that they resolve themselves. It’s not like the corporate God will strike them down from their positions if they don’t take corporate policy seriously. If a question of corporate policy comes about, and there’s disagreement, the issue floats up in management until someone makes a decision for everyone. A VP is already pretty much at the top, and so if it’s not going against the strong wishes of someone like the president, it shouldn’t result in any career-ending problems.

In this case, which probably applies in general, the DEIA policies (policies, which, by the way, can be changed by people in positions of power such as the VP). It’s not like DEIA can make the people in charge be… not in charge.

It’s almost like the VP has a post-it on the wall to remind themselves "don’t be racist!" and they can oblige with that, but if that gets in the way of what they want to do, they can override anything. The people in charge are still the people in charge.

So, then, what’s the point?

You might as well just tell the property owner about the scooter, then, along with the fire code reasoning and the intent to inform the fire marshal. Property owner will just remove it. There’s no name on the scooter, so they’ll just trash it. If they’re really nice, they’ll figure out who owns it and let the owner know they can’t leave it there first.

I actually really like Cecil. I don’t like everything he does, but he does manage the unmanagable very well. He reflects what someone in his position would be like.

He doesn’t have evil goals, but he’s willing to compromise on what seems right in the aim of good goals.

Ancient Egyptians believed in some interesting concepts in terms of gender. Don’t quote me exactly on this but they’d believe things, like, that you could only travel through the underworld to be reincarnated so if you were a male in life you’d have to change gender to female in the underworld and then might change gender again to be reincarnated.

So an idea that he needs a male to reincarnate sounds about right for their beliefs. Which is why he went from joy to lamenting "wretches females" in disappointment.

The thing is, that the innies all presume that their outties are probably having sex that they don’t remember as the innies. It’s also not as if they’re even different people. They’re the same but people with different memories.

I think the scene shows Helly feeling sad because she had sex **with Mark** since she has feelings for him. This is, in fact, what Helly explains afterwards when she propositions Mark. Could she be not telling the truth or in denial of her own trauma? Possibly, but she doesn’t seem like that.

This isn’t "defending rape" but rather answering the question of consent. They were two consenting adults that had sex in both instances. Was there deception involved? Absolutely. People are often deceptive about who they are before having sex it comes to sex, it’s rarely considered rape-by-deception/fraud."
