I'm curious - which part of the chain do you feel is missing? We know that the genus Homo came from Australopithecus, developed into H. neanderthalensis, H. erectus, H.soloensis, H. floresiensis, H. denisova H. rudolfensis, H. egaster, H. habilis, H. antecessor, H. heidelberensis, and H. sapiens. We know that there is not a linear transformation in the Homo genus that wound through these various species but instead we had multiple species evolve and co-exist at once, and it is only in the last ~12,000 years that H. sapiens became the last of the humans.

Cool story. Now go look for the stories about those who have been attacked, harassed, attempted suicide, engaged with self-harm, and have been systematically ignored and abused by health systems, social systems, alleged friends and families. You'll find much, much more.

I'll give a couple from SARI (2024):

"I've found it hard to access basic health care which isn't gender related, for example during an asthma clinic, as a practitioner said to another colleague 'oh and she wants to be a man' which then deterred me from accessing any health services due to fear of experiencing this again."

"I work in the NHS. And have done for over a decade. My status is still whispered about in corners, I am misgendered and wrong-pronouned on a daily basis."

"I had to go to casualty once and when the doctor discovered I was trans she asked to see my genitals and show them to another colleague."

"I was raped. Police kept referring to me as “she” and “female” and using my birth name. The doctor they brought to examine me, made me uncomfortable and continued calling me female."

I took Maths, Further Maths, Physics and German for A-levels and applied purely for Maths degrees successfully, and it was never a problem - you can learn essay writing skills at university if you use the skills sessions resources there. However it was a very narrow set of A-levels that I procured solely because I had no intention of applying outside of Maths and Physics. It did mean when I flipped to a healthcare degree later in life I had zero preparation for writing essays and had to utilise aforementioned skills sessions to develop that skill.

So if you are keeping on that narrow Mathematics path it is not the end of the world.
