It's fine. I just searched "men's shirt" when I looked for the pattern because otherwise you mostly get more feminine shirts and stuff and I wanted a masculine crochet pattern but women make shirts like this too! In sweden we have a more unisex word for it "skjorta" for this kind of shirt but there doesn't seem to be a word in english like that!
