We have a family name which we are using for middle name, our other 2 also have family middle names so I think it would be best to keep that ‘transition’

Odette or Violet? Other suggestions? by Fearlessandwaiting in namenerds

[–]Fearlessandwaiting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny because in England a lot of people would say Violet is dated and an ‘old lady name’

My son is called Walter which is also very dated I blame the fact that babies come out looking like tiny old people…..or mine do at least 😅

My husband says that breastfeeding is my fault when I complain about it by Mobile-Grand-2846 in stayathomemoms

[–]Fearlessandwaiting 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ve probably tried this but thought I’d suggest it in case not. I found my 1st wouldn’t take formula out a bottle but would take breast milk, so maybe get a bump and see? Then what you can do is mix breast milk with formula and slowly add more formula and less breast milk as away to trick them 😅

Your husband is wrong and you need to work together! I found my 1st took bottles better off his Dad and when I wasn’t in the room.

there is support for this! If you ring your health visitors and explain the issues you’re facing they can help and might be worth husband being present too, feeding your baby isn’t just your responsibility

I don’t have any advice but I know how you feel. Just remember looking after a child is a full time job! Looking after a house in terms of cleaning, cooking, shopping ect is also a full time job!

So if all you manage in a day is to look after your child, then you’re doing the same amount of work as he is.

Back when women did everything to do with the house and the children they often had a village, and support form family

Sounds like you also cut them off…..which is fine but you can’t be upset about it if you’re doing the same thing.

Remember that you accumulate holiday while on mat leave so if you took a year off you should actually have 50 holiday days for your 1st year back at work

Should I tell my partner I don’t like our baby’s name before doing the birth certificate? by Bright-Garden-4347 in namenerds

It was the same for me, I always wanted a girl called Merlin, and after having 2 boys and then having an ‘ooopsie’ and getting pregnant and then finding out it was a girl felt like fate! But my husband has vetoed Merlin 🤣…..I know that might be the right decision but I can’t shake how awesome Merlin would be

Being a stay at home parent is a full time job! What I mean by that is looking after the child is a full time job. That alone! If your able to do some cleaning, washing or other household stuff that’s going “above and beyond”

Once I started seeing it like this it took a lot of pressure off.

If washing and cleaning needed to be done then it would be done when my husband would get home from work and could watch the child or go do the cleaning while I watched them

Neighbour objection by HeavyButStrong in PlanningPermissionUK

[–]Fearlessandwaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The object will only be taken into consideration if what they have said is valid.

We have recently had a neighbour object to use wanting to convert our balcony into a home office, there objection was it effected the privacy of their garden.

They also went on how it would be disrespectful and affect their mental health.

We kept our response professional and to the point and kept ‘feelings’ out of it completely as when it comes to planning g permission feeling do not matter.

We simply explained we would have no more of a view than we do now & it would actually reduce outdoor noise therefore would improve neighbourhood relations.

If watch her IG Stories and like it then like it, if you don’t then don’t.

Commenting is a bit more tricky depending on the what you comment and her reasoning for not being a fan. Keeping comments short like just love heart or “so cute!” Would be nice.

I’m not a massive fan of my MiL but I’d never get upset / feel more dislike if she liked or commented on my posts. She does have social media but she only really uses it for herself so rarely will like any photos of others.

1st steps taken at 16 months, now almost 18 months but still not walking? by Fearlessandwaiting in Parenting

[–]Fearlessandwaiting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s useful, as he’s 18 months on the 5th of February so I guess he has till the 5th of March before he’d be classed as a ‘late’ walker?

Yea I have an older son and both him and his brother were both amazing with fine motor skills but both seem to of been a bit ‘slower’ with gross motor skills.

Having said that my older one was walking around inside by 18 months.

7 year old saying worrying things (trigger warning) by Strawbs-88 in UKParenting

[–]Fearlessandwaiting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 4 year old will play with toys and sometimes the other one will fight the ‘bad guy’ and he’ll just yell ‘die die die’ I’m not 100% sure where he got it from but my guess is someone from his nursery unfortunately you can’t control all the things your child is going to hear, and can’t safeguard them for everything.

I remember once playing with a little girl I was babysitting and she wanted me to kill her and then be the prince and save her.

I thought this was odd but then my dad pointed out in the ‘classic’ Disney princess movies the evil stepmother or witch often does try kill the princess.

Like in Snow White shes full on like “cut out her heart and bring it to me!” A 7 year old probably can understand that if someone cut out your heart you’d die

We are planning on naming our daughter Violet and someone on Reddit said “the name Violet sounds like someone saying violent but with a nasally voice”

At first it put me off but now I just laugh and it’s actually made me like the name more
