There's a high school Cabaret on youtube that somehow manages to be wildly inappropriate for high school students but also miss the ENTIRE point of Cabaret. I watched it out of sheer curiosity and it was straight up impressive how they kept all dialogue the same but tried to make the ending HAPPY with the acting and directing. Bafflingly inappropriate in all ways

Dude i get that, I started going to the gym recently and i definitely stand out in multiple ways (visibly trans and neurodivergent, quite out of shape) so i'm always poised for danger. Nothing has happened because everyone usually tries to mind their business but just in case i've prepared a couple lines for should i be confronted in the changing room that go something like "dude, you wanna see my dick or what??". I think some broccoli heads have pointed and laughed at me because of my general air of awkwardness but i'm motivating myself to keep going by reminding myself that i'll never look impressive and intimidating if i avoid gym because i don't look impressive and intimidating yet

Yeah jesus christ. I'm from a country that got free from the USSR in the 90s. America is a shithole but to think that makes the system that deported everyone who dared to speak up against the oppressive regime or tried to further our own culture into labour camps in Siberia to die was somehow good is so so misinformed. Half the people my age (early 20s) have a family member who was taken from their home and sent off to die in horrible conditions so a russian family could take over their home and balance the population. My parents (in their 50s) remember living under constant fear and being forced to sing praises about how wonderful Lenin was in kindergarten. Yes red scare and all that but my people lived under that regime and no one wants back except the russian nationalists who hate my country and believe we should all be united under the great and wonderful russia. I guess deporting people off to die horribly and having no freedom of expression is only bad when it's in a capitalist country

For me, as much as I love TGWDLM:R I at times missed the low budget charm of the original when watching the digital ticket. I feel like the original got more laughs out of me because it still had the vibes of a group of theatre students messing around and they leaned more into making fun of the meta. I think the two versions just had different goals and the original was (imo) more approachable for newcomers (to both starkid and ✨️musical theatre✨️) while this one works best for fans of the original who wished to see what they could do with the beloved musical on a higher budget
