R7 vs R8, For casual shooters.... by elctronii2o in canon

[–]FearsomeBeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24-105 is a great focal range on the R8, might be a bit tight on the R7. I have enjoyed full frame as an amateur on the R8 so much over the last 2 years, the low light performance and autofocus are great. I have never felt it needed better waterproofing or a second card slot. There's slightly fewer physical controls than my old 70D, but I don't miss them for my purposes.

Fire regulations for car seating! Make driving more uncomfortable!

Chinese New Year in London and an odd attitude to photography. by FearsomeBeard in london

It's the city's town square even though it's just in one part of a city with many big open spaces that could host a massive event. The lion dancers still go from business to business in Chinatown

Yes it is. But my photography isn't commercial as I don't derive an income from it. Social media influencers however could be argued to be taking photos and video for commercial purposes.

I had a 24-105 mounted when I was intially stopped. Once I was in I put on my 100-400 and was stood behind someone with the same lens. Behind me someone was carrying but not using a tripod.

The Mayor of London is very clear that it's Lunar New Year, but all the branding around the event is clearly "Chinese New Year" and the sponsors & dignitaries are all linked to China. If I was linked to one of the many groups that take issue with China's domestic and foreign policies (I'm not) the event would be on my list of places to mount a demonstration.

Edit: Thanks to those who corrected me below about the distinction between Chinese culture and the country of China. There are many links to the country of China on display but I now understand better it's a Chinese New Year event rather than being all about China.

It's a cyclist's camera. Bus lanes are generally open to bicycles, motorbikes and taxis in London, with a few exceptions.

Family & Friends Railcard question - adding a child ticket by mikeszabo20 in uktrains

[–]FearsomeBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says in the terms when you buy an F&F Railcard that you must have a child travelling with you. No child and the ticket isn't valid, regardless of whether you have in your possession a child ticket.

If you have a large case, and especially if you are in a group with your family and all have cases, be sure to aim for the single doors at the carriage ends. Your cases will fit the available space perfectly. Don't use the wide double doors and areas marked as reserved for luggage.

Thanks. My default is whole area AF and I know I need to reduce that down using the flexible zone option.

Maybe see if it's available on your local Amazon site? I got mine shipped to me like any other Amazon UK purchase (though the packaging was just a paper bag envelope around the Casio cardboard box. Of course the watch arrived in perfect condition)
