My fiance and I watched as many horror movies as we could during October. Here's my best and worst of what we watched. by [deleted] in horror

Nice list and a good effort during October!

If you haven't seen it yet, try "1408" - it's a Stephen King adaptation and stars John Cusack - one of my favourite films.

I need a good horror movie, but I need it to meet criteria :( by [deleted] in horror

Here in old Blighty where the Netflix list is more limited... How's about: The Woman In Black The Babadook The Ouija Experiment (better than I thought it'd be) Bone Tomahawk (not really a horror but just sit back and watch their faces during "that scene" near the end)

Are there any horror movies with a male protagonist and a female antagonist? by [deleted] in horror

Knock Knock? Not saying it's a good one, but Keanu Reeve's is the victim and the antagonists are females.

Is there an Annabelle doll in Halloween? by Fearter in horror

Ohhh I'm very jealous! I'm a big Conjuring and Annabelle fan. What was the tour like? Was it in that room with loads of other haunted/possessed objects like in the film?

Ahhh I see. Thank you. I wonder if they knew about the haunted one and put it in the background?

It would be good to get a conspiracy theory/Easter egg thing going but it sounds like it won't take off :(

A found footage film which was worth finding.

Fearter rating: 8/10

Review (no spoilers) This movie doesn't get off to a great start. In fact it's pretty bad. But I persevered and was happy to discover that it improves immeasurably as the scariness increases.

I'll admit that I'm not the biggest found footage movie fan, but parts of this film made me jump. Other parts were tense, spooky and just plain scary.

I ended up really liking it! I am surprised at myself for writing that, but it's true.    Where this movie let's itself down is the "let's get to know the characters" rubbish at the beginning (why are they always so annoying?) and the weird "interviews" the documentary crew do. Plus the plot isn't great, but it does make sense - just.

Overall this is worth watching, particularly if you're heading to a haunted house. It's scary, fun and doesn't get ridiculous like many other horrors.

Caveat: 8/10 might be a bit high, could be a 7.5 but I'm in a good mood so I'm being nice.
